They’ve executed this strategy before and have been very vocal about the rationale. And I mean they lost the game by giving up a 3! Seems like fouling (maybe Stirtz misses, probably not), having 11+ seconds to win or otherwise go to OT was way better than this result

If Golden’s strategy was to foul Stirtz (an 84% FT shooter on the season) to give him a chance to tie the game up two…that is one of the dumbest strategies I have ever seen in an end of game scenario

I actually referenced this stat in my rim points article the other day. The craziest part is 3-point% is actually DOWN over 1% since 2018, on just slightly higher rates.
The surge in offensive efficiency is due to smarter 2-point attempts.
