@Hill_of_Beanz @VanessaBeeley Oh, well, seems you don't like having conversations with people who have a different life experience/opinion than you Just easier to block them I guess Free Palestine 🍉 (I guess we can agree on that 😅)

Is the Zionist Movement eyeing up Cyprus for a take-over? Israel on the move with Trump at the helm. From IsraelHayom: "..if the threat from the area reaches a critical threshold, Israel's strategic posture must shift. Israel, in coordination with Greece and Cyprus, must prepare a contingency operation for liberating the island's north. Such an operation would neutralize Turkish reinforcement capabilities from the mainland, eliminate air-defense systems in Northern Cyprus, destroy intelligence and command centers, and finally remove Turkish forces, restoring internationally recognized Cypriot sovereignty. This contingency plan could be termed "Poseidon's Wrath," named after the Greek god of the sea, highlighting maritime dominance and the devastating consequences of a worst-case scenario. The name underscores Israel's focus on safeguarding strategic maritime assets and maintaining open sea lanes critical for regional security. This would remain a contingency plan: Israel does not seek confrontation but must remain fully prepared. The Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear infrastructure, previously regarded as a highly unlikely scenario, was eventually executed. Turkey, currently constructing the problematic Akkuyu nuclear plant on its Mediterranean coast - a project Russia is quickly abandoning due to recognized risks - should internalize this lesson" My article - beeley.substack.com/p/is-the-regio… #Cyprus #Israel #Trump #Turkey #Gaza

Couple of thoughts: 1) 'Misinformation' is an amorphous, flabby linguistic + ideological construct. It's not a science thing... 2) 'Commercial bias' is kinda one of the bedrocks of medical/ scientific research academic.oup.com/fampra/article… #justsaying
American Academy of Sleep Medicine@AASMorg

Sleep videos created by bloggers, health coaches, and other non-experts get millions of eyeballs. But a @JCSMJournal study (bit.ly/3EJbrq3) found two-thirds contained commercial bias — and more than 90 percent contained misinformation. bit.ly/3kGTlhs

@rebeccasrobbins @YouTube I'd love to read the study, but it will cost me $125 to remove the paywall. Any chance you could forward a pdf copy? Thanks :)

We did a content analysis of the most widely viewed @YouTube videos about #sleep and #insomnia, finding an association between number of view and #misinformation, and commercial biases in widely viewed videos. Efforts to promote evidence based #SleepHealth info needed.

@DrJuliaTBoyle Can we begin with the name? “Sleep Hygiene” implies clean or dirty. Even on my best night my sleep is challenging, but never unhygienic.

@altini_marco I see a lot of parallels with 'orthosomnia' ie people becoming fixated on sub-optimal metrics, which in turn causes unhealthy obsessions, negative feedback, stress/anxiety etc - the double irony in this case is that we're talking about a metric that measures stress!

Huberman is partly right, but omits the glaring fact that spring forward collectively benefits oil, retail, golf, leisure industries by 💰billions every year Ignorance and greed are a deadly combo
Andrew D. Huberman, Ph.D.@hubermanlab

As we head toward the “spring forward” daylight savings, I am reminded how these rules are based on total lack of how our circadian biology actually works. I believe the solution is in educating our lawmakers. After all most of them look like their health could use a boost too!

@ronniwhitworth @hubermanlab No it's the opposite way round. Spring forward means lighter evenings, but at the cost of darker mornings. Daylight Saving Time is an anti-science thing in this respect

@hubermanlab Curious, won't the "spring forward" help with earlier morning sunlight? I'm really trying to get my morning sunlight quota, to adjust and correct my circadian rhythm cycle. And of course, limiting the blue light exposure in the evening/night time.

One of my top moments in advocacy. Hard to top sharing alongside peers last year @project_sleep Nashville Event and their Sleep Summit…but this was equally as special. Shoutout to the brilliant minds up there and in the audience who made the session special. #SleepPeeps

The stakes were high at today’s #ASCS2023 trainee activity! Participants debated on the topic “Is the popularity of sleep and circadian science in wellness culture helpful or harmful?”

@matthorsnell @project_sleep The question references 'sleep science' not 'sleep' Which makes this a debate about gatekeeping The existential purpose of science is to usher new knowledge into wider awareness/discourse Not shield the public from it because of a subjective assessment of 'harm'

@SleepJunkies @project_sleep Restating Q: “Is the popularity of sleep in wellness culture helpful or harmful?” Your interpretation as “is knowledge harmful” is the exact reason the question has merit: Misinformation and junk science proliferate and disrupt legitimate public discourse. Rebuttal?

Wow indeed. For anyone who reflexivley responds "but orthosomnia'" whenever the topic of sleep tracking is mentioned.. .. here's a reminder of the big picture 👇 ie the vast potential of cheap, accessible consumer wearables to revolutionise health care across multiple domains
