Excited to share our study by @keylas3 et al. on pathological autoantibodies in people with Long COVID. We asked whether IgG in patients with Long COVID bind to human tissues/antigens and cause pathologies when transferred into mice. With @PutrinoLab doi.org/10.1016/j.cell…

40 million Ukrainians are crying out for help. Terrible weeks lie ahead; anti-aircraft missiles are running low, and Ukrainian cities are left unprotected: Zelenskyy’s letter to Trump has been released. The letter further states that during the last massive attack on Kyiv and the Oreshniki region, only two missiles remained. Further statements made by Zelenskyy in the letter to the US President: Every day, we lose people and infrastructure to Russian attacks. That is why we deeply appreciate any support for Ukraine’s air defense capabilities. Even when we ourselves are under fire, we do not leave our friends without assistance. For we understand what is at stake—and how much could be lost. Ukraine has raised its interception rate for Russian attack drones—including "Shaheds"—to over 90 percent. This Ukrainian experience has already helped countries in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region strengthen their own defense capabilities. When Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, and others reached out to us, I told them that Ukraine could not stand idly by. We were ready to stand by their side. Given the existential threat posed to our nation by Russia—and having received extraordinary support from you, the United States, in defending the lives of our people and Ukraine’s independence—I am convinced that we have a moral duty and responsibility to stand by your side, and by the side of all those who champion security and freedom. And we believe that true alliances rest upon such foundations. When it comes to missile defense, we rely on our friends and partners around the world. And when it comes to defending against ballistic missiles, we rely almost exclusively on the United States. Patriot systems remain the most effective means of countering any type of Russian ballistic missile. And specifically in Ukrainian hands, Patriot systems have demonstrated something of enormous significance: that most Russian missiles can be intercepted. Russian officials are threatening to make attacks—such as the one launched against Kyiv on the eve of Memorial Day—a permanent feature of a broader and more systematic campaign. We are aware that there is currently high demand for Patriot interceptor missiles in other regions—particularly given the situation in the Persian Gulf and other growing security challenges. For us—a nation fighting for its very survival—there is scarcely anything more painful than finding Patriot batteries left without missiles. I ask for your assistance in protecting Ukrainian airspace from Russian missiles. We understand that the United States continues to bear responsibility for its own defense, as well as for the defense of its allies and partners. And we agree that Europe must assume a greater role in ensuring its own security. Yet, after everything we have endured together—have we not earned a place among your allies? Scaling up Patriot production could be one of the most significant joint contributions to the security of America, Ukraine, Europe, and your allies around the world. Putin has already lost in a historic sense. Now, in the fifth year of this war, Russia has failed to defeat a country backed by the democratic world—a country with no Western troops on its soil, yet with strong Western support helping us to defend ourselves. This reality has already shattered Moscow’s global ambitions. Putin has also lost the Black Sea. Without a major navy of our own, we have pushed back Russia’s Black Sea Fleet using our drones, forcing the Russian fleet to hide in distant ports. And even there, we continue to reach them. Yet, as long as Putin retains even a single significant advantage in conventional weaponry, he will shun traditional diplomacy. Today, his ballistic missiles remain precisely that—his last major advantage on the battlefield.
