@afneil Andrew, why not ask one or two of our many living former PMs what their protocol was when confirming ambassadors and other for. appointments? Did they wait to hear if their nominees had cleared the security checks? Were they told of the results of those checks?

The unraveling continues. On November 11 2024 the Cabinet Secretary advised Starmer: “You should give us the name of the person you would like to appoint and we will develop a plan for them to acquire the necessary security clearances and do due diligence on any potential Conflicts of Interest or other issues of which you should be aware before confirming your choice." Starmer ignored this advice. Appointed Mandelson December 2024, with vetting not done til January 2025. The rest is history

@JakeWSimons I do wonder if those in the "free Palestine" camp are aware that this has been rejected not just in Camp David and later with Olmert but other occasions in history such as 1937 Peel commission and the 47 UN partition plan. Arafat didn't even give a counter proposal to Clinton.

The Palestine crowd need to find an answer to this. So far, I haven't heard one.
