@theglasgowbell I walk along/across High St most days to get to work. I’m mostly trying to get away from it as quickly as possible - it’s so full of speeding, noisy, smelly cars it’s not a nice or safe place to be.

🗞️Midweek read! 🚶‍♀️The upper end of High Street sees hundreds of thousands pass by every year on their way to Glasgow Cathedral. It should be stuffed with independent shops and cafes. Instead traders say they've literally been left to rot. But, by who? glasgowbell.co.uk/glasgows-oldes…

What the hell is happening with @GlasgowCC and bike lanes? Signs plonked in the middle, bollards mostly smashed up, parts blocked by barriers for no discernible reason. Can you imagine the outrage if drivers had to put up with this nonsense?

The clearest bit of Kamala Harris' otherwise fuzzy platform was her ongoing support for Israel's genocidal war machine and her deep contempt for pro-Palestine voters. This is what it cost her in Michigan.

@StickMan_v7 @Anothergreen @BobFromAccounts @PaoloIskandar64 Will make walking & cycling more dangerous (and I’m saying that as an EV driver). Much faster acceleration means junctions are far more risky for all. The old advantage I have of being able to cycle off from lights a bit quicker is gone.

@jamiemchale @sharrond62 It's a red herring to claim this is about local amenities. Obviously most people would welcome having local shops etc as was commonplace in the past. The issue is the denial of private vehicle ownership and being forced to share a car between 3 houses. What say you on that?

I’m so not up for 15 min communities. It will not work for families with active kids doing all sorts of activities. And whilst the little people get to live confined with little choice those in the WEF fly in their jets & on their yachts telling ‘ the people’ to reduce their lives. Who voted for these globalists?
Wide Awake Media@wideawake_media

"Would you be happy sharing, not owning, a car?" The WEF: "The Netherlands is building a neighbourhood where every car must be shared. There'll be one vehicle for every three homes, and no space for privately owned cars." "Residents will be encouraged to cycle, use public transport, or borrow from a pool of shared cars... And everything that residents need will be within walking distance." So, in response to the WEF's question, WOULD you be happy sharing, not owning, a car? 🤔

@AndyDAgorne @BobFromAccounts @LouHaigh And take some of the £3,000 million it would have raised and put some in to boost the paltry active travel budgets. Could do a LOT with that amount of money.

It's the hope that kills you @LouHaigh. New government, new direction, daily evidence of a climate emergency, yet the same old policies neglecting active travel and public transport while enabling fossil fuels.

Please talk to your elderly relatives and take action to stop them getting behind the wheel if they pose a risk.

#RoadViolence RIP Xander. If anything good can come out of this awful tragedy, let it be a legacy of removing incompetent older drivers from the road before they inflict needless harm on others: bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

I haven't written enough about Scottish marginal tax rates. Here's how it looks - check out that 70% rate between £100k and £125k. This isn't a special case, or a cherry-picked example. This is the position for *everyone*.

Teenage boy walking on the pavement next to a totally unnecessary 50mph dual carriageway gets hit by a driver. Stupidly wide and fast road, to get drivers to the next queue of traffic 5 seconds faster.
Keith Fuller@kfullermusic

@AngusCMillar - any chance of getting chicanes in the road on Maryhill? Maybe some drivers dismount signs? I seem to remember you mentioning something about road hierarchy and protecting pedestrians. Thanks. glasgowlive.co.uk/news/glasgow-n…
