Yes columns were present inside. But they could not hold the structure by themselves. The architecture was controversial even then. Almost no other skyscraper in the world is built that way. On WTC7 you are not seeing detonations. Ask a demolition company how many men and how long it would take to wire a building like that, and if they thought it was possible to keep anyone who works there from becoming aware.
