Build Al or use it better Students are experimenting with AI tools, older folks are trying to keep up, and the promise of AI-powered careers often feels both exciting and overwhelming. Prof. B Ravindran, head of the Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI at IIT Madras, offers two ways to approach the AI-enabled world. --> One is to ask, how am I going to build the next generation of AI? --> The other is to ask, how do I use AI to do what I already do better? He also makes one thing clear: Shortcuts do not work in Artificial Intelligence. Success in AI demands strong fundamentals, real understanding, and the ability to question outputs. Prof. Ravindran also pushes back against the fear that AI will wipe out jobs entirely, instead highlighting how AI will reshape the structure of work and enable smaller, smarter teams to build more with fewer resources. 👉READ MORE HERE - timesofindia.indiatimes.com/technology/tim… #ArtificialIntelligence #AIEducation #FutureOfWork #TimesTechiesPodcast #IITMadras #WSAI #Innovation #CareersInAI #ThoughtLeadership @ravi_iitm @cerai_iitm @iitmadras @timesofindia @sujitjohn

What use is tech talent without civic sense? Can’t we use technology to keep our city clean, to discipline our traffic and improve infrastructure? If China can use robots to collect garbage, clean sewers n control traffic offenders, why can’t we? Come on techies rise to the challenge - waste to wealth n to a clean and green city

A major initiative to improve road safety and bring back dignity in a tough job! Excited to be a part of this. @WSAI_IITM @iitmadras
IIT Madras@iitmadras

IIT Madras has entered into a landmark partnership with Daimler India Commercial Vehicles to develop a first-of-its-kind Universal Driver Rating System, aimed at transforming road safety and accountability across India’s commercial transport ecosystem. This collaborative initiative aims to establish a robust, data-driven framework that assesses commercial driver performance, safety, and well-being, while also laying the groundwork for a digital public infrastructure to facilitate nationwide rollout. Leveraging smartphone-based inputs and sensor data, the system will incentivise safe driving, reward professionalism, and help identify and correct risky behaviour. Designed to be a critical tool for commercial driving certification, insurance, and background verification, the rating system will empower fleet operators with real-time performance insights, support training institutes in certifying drivers, assist shippers with delivery visibility, and provide governments with reliable data for evidence-based policymaking. By bridging cutting-edge research and industry expertise, this IIT Madras–Daimler partnership underscores the power of academia–industry collaboration in delivering scalable, impactful solutions. At its core, the initiative recognises commercial drivers as the backbone of the nation—working towards safer roads, stronger livelihoods, and a more accountable and responsible mobility ecosystem for India. @iitmadras @FusoOfficial #IITMadras #RoadSafety
