Q6: If you’re an underdog late, are you more willing to go win it in regulation? Or are you comfortable taking the tie and playing OT? Do you go into each game with a plan about aggressive decisions? @CoachGameState #TXHSFBCHAT

@txhsfbchat @CoachGameState As OC on 3rd and less than 4 or so, based on place on the field and game I ask the HC. “Do I have one or two to get this?” That dictates my 3rd down call.

@tempo_strike I can’t imagine why you shattered it. It was about a 14-120. How long ago were you #120?

I did my last back hand spring at 50. That was 5 years ago. But I did save the video. LOL And I do remember that black Catapole. I ended up shattering it. Those poles used to last forever.
Andy Gower@givepullorpitch

@tempo_strike Congratulations. You are really making me feel old. I remember watching you flex the dickens out of an old black cat-a-pole I gave you pole vaulting at Rush Springs. Do you think you can still flex a pole?

@DeanBlevins @zander @OU_Baseball I was impressed. Question not pinch running for the catcher in the bottom of the 8th. Would have been on third with the next base hit.

I used to think Mike Tirico was one of the best in the business. I had no opinion on Reggie Miller. The bias and nauseating love for one player on a national broadcast is embarrassing. Do better NBC.

Okay I got to share a very humble & proud moment for me yesterday. A former player reached out to me to ask about the HFC opening at Gold Beach, the school I retired from in 2024. Herbie played on State Title team in 07. All State Tailback. He texted and said “the wins & championships were great, but the life lessons you taught us were invaluable for our future success in the adult world” OMG it brought me to tears! Football was my finest classroom, where we were able to teach stuff that cannot be taught in a traditional classroom. Stuff that is as important as English Literature & Calculus.

@Jimfrombaseball Dan was also in the 45th division in Korea. They also had a very good base football team. My dad was part of that. Said he was a fine player and human.

@MrPitbull07 No way I’m defending dad’s bad attitude or failure to discipline and control the child. Just saying many of you don’t understand the isolation a family experiences with a handicapped child or adult.

@MrPitbull07 Yes, the flight attendant handled that wonderfully. What if a child has a disability, say autism? Should that family live in isolation? I’m not defending a father’s attitude or lack of effort. Just asking.

I was on a flight where a little boy, maybe 5 years old, was kicking the seat in front of him. The man in that seat asked the parents politely to make him stop. They ignored him. Twenty minutes later, the man asked again, more firmly. The father said, “He’s a kid. Deal with it.” The flight attendant, Sarah, came over after witnessing the exchange. “Sir,” she said to the father, “I need you to make sure your son stops kicking the seat.” The father got aggressive. “Mind your own business. I’m parenting my child.” Sarah didn’t blink. “Your parenting becomes my business when it affects other passengers. Your son needs to stop kicking the seat, or I’ll need to move your family.” “You can’t do that,” the father said. “We paid for these seats.” “Actually, I can,” Sarah said calmly. “And if you refuse to cooperate with crew instructions, I can have the captain radio ahead and have law enforcement meet us at the gate. So what’s it going to be?” The father grabbed his son’s legs and made him stop. Sarah thanked him and walked away like nothing happened. ~Taylor Evelyn

@jimshapiro Drive Super8 to the developer Friday night, sit in the parking lot talking the night’s games with area coaches. Get your one copy by 1 or 2 am if you were lucky. Trade previous two weeks film at 8am Saturday at a convenience store goodness knows where. Go blind seeing bad film.

Old school coach memory. Next time you share your dislike for Hudl. Consider this. It’s Friday night, your game film is on VHS. You gotta stack several VCRs together so you can make copies for your team. 6 hours later, 24 copies made. Then you get up the next day to drive a copy across town to your next week opponent. You exchange film. Head home to make more VCR copies to only find out the scout copy was crap. Some jr high kid shot the film. You move forward with making more copies. Then spend your day driving them around town to your starters.

I don’t have a dog in this hunt. Does it bother you that “rules analysts” always agree with on the field call. Especially on DPI. Had about four, “letting them play” and one DPI and they all looked alike to me.

@CODY_GARDNER @CoachVass @kdawgswift Flattered. I was a position coach in someone else’s system while my son was playing and working on my advanced degree. Came back as OC a while later and we lit it up. Young guys hadn’t seen it and struggled defending. I think a return would handcuff the youngins.

Had a Patreon member ask for the best resources, clinic, etc., for QB play in the Triple Option. He already has all-22 for Army and similar offenses, but wants direct instructional material. I didn't have a good answer, so I thought I'd throw it up here because I usually get great suggestions.
