@glcarlstrom the build-up / deployment had to be done to add credence to the threat of ground invasion...could end up being used merely as a pressure tactic in the negotiations and need not indicate intent of actual boots on ground

I'm sure Trump said this to his aides at some point. Why not? He's said everything else over the past month I also think the ongoing American build-up in the region suggests he's not about to do it immediately. The most reliable indicator of "what will Trump do?" has been military deployments At some point there will likely need to be either a deal or a coalition around Hormuz, but the idea that America is going to imminently walk away seems at odds with what's happening in reality wsj.com/world/middle-e…

The following table breaks down what is considered a healthy resting heart rate based on age and fitness level. During long holidays (non-stressful days, no office work) with gym, walk & breathing, my resting heart rate at 52 yr of age go below 50 bpm. On normal days my rest heart rate is below 60 BPM.

@devinamehra #1 (pressure on currency guiding RBI course of action) is understandable. but #2 ? market yields guide RBI or RBI guides market yields?

A historic low in inflation for India so why is the RBI not cutting rates further in a hurry? The truth is: 1. Rates have not fallen by anywhere close to the 1 percent point cut by the RBI this year The 10-year bond yield, by example, is down only about 0.2 percent points from the beginning of the Year 2. Even at these rates there is no demand for Government bonds. Some Bond issues have had to be pulled or reduced in size 3. There is a tricky question of how much the RBI can allow the Rupee to slide Quoting what @firstglobalsec posted on October 1 after the last RBI policy Quote Reading between the lines of the RBI Policy RBI left the rates unchanged despite two developments that, in the normal course, should've resulted in lower rates The inflation + GDP estimates 👇 for the rest of FY26 revised down The two things left unsaid in the statement 1. The pressure on the currency. What do interest rates have to do with it? The difference between Indian interest rates and those in the developed countries is at historic lows (in the low 2 percentage points range as against a historic average of 5% points plus). In macroeconomic theory, as the relative interest rates in an economy fall, it is less able to attract capital investments and hence the currency of the country depreciates. 2. In spite of the one percent point drop in interest rates in 2025, the yields in 10 year government bonds have fallen by only about 0.2 percent points. Certain Bond issues by State governments could not go through because there was not sufficient demand. So market participants are not very enthusiastic about deploying capital at these lower interest rates. In our view these are the some of the unstated reasons why in spite of very benign conditions on inflation including a good monsoon, lower food prices and GST rationalization and the need for a boost to the economy given Trump tariff (lower interest rates would have provided a cushion to affected exporters), RBI has not only chosen to keep the rates unchanged it has not even changed its stance from neutral to dovish. Always watch for what is not said! Unquote PS: Hope you follow @firstglobalsec for such insights Press clip from @bsindia

I graduated from Delhi Public School RK Puram. It isn't some random high school in India - it's arguably the most well known and most prestigious high school in the country. To wit, 29 of the 45 students in my section of the graduating class passed the prestigious IIT Entrance exams.

Winter has not set in. The number of vehicles has remained the same. And yet air pollution has been rising in the entire region for the last few days. This includes Lahore in Pakistan where people cannot be faulted for bursting Diwali firecrackers. You don't have to be a scientist like Prof. Ranganathan to draw the obvious conclusion.
Anand Ranganathan@ARanganathan72

Latest NASA satmap shows stubble-burning continues unabated in Punjab, Haryana, UP, and parts of Pakistan. Smog from these farm fires will blanket Delhi soon - it has begun to already (AQI: 418). And everyone - politicians, youtubers, judges, the media - will blame Diwali for it.

I have a question, and both men and women are welcome to respond: which aftershave splash is the best? Gentlemen, please share the one that feels best on the skin (and no, I don't want to hear Old Spice). Ladies, which one do you think smells the best?

Blazing through a shortcut to Umling La, scaling the mighty Nurbula Top at 17,328 feet this route is raw, unforgiving, and only something like a Jeep Rubicon can handle. Behind the wheel: Mr. Kabir Waraich. This is not just a drive; it’s a climb to the top of the world. Do you have what it takes to face the shortcut to Umling La?😍 @Jeep @JeepIndia @Jeep_UK
