I've been praying the past few weeks. Unsure why. There's good evidence behind prayer. It mimics breathwork, calming the nervous system, dropping cortisol, and quieting the brain. Daily prayers show lower depression, anxiety, and pain. I'd like to develop a prayer practice. Growing up, the protocol was written for me. Explaining whom to pray to, the structure of the prayer, and the boundary conditions. I don't really know how to pray now.

@BCGLounge @realannapaulina There are "beyond a reasonable doubt" answers to all of your questions. I challenge you to watch The Case for Christ documentary, free on YouTube. Worst case scenario, you just wast 2 hours of your time solidifying your beliefs further. But maybe...

That’s kind of my point though. Which God(s) of which traditions? The Christian Bible? The Hebrew Bible? Hinduism? Paganism? Buddhism? Mysticism? Indigenous peoples beliefs? Greek, Norse, or Egyptian gods? Is it not possible that humans, across cultures, have been trying to interpret the same underlying force/reality for thousands of years, only to end up nonsensically fighting each other over their interpretation instead of the mystery itself? I personally like “maybe,” because maybe every religion contains a fragment of the truth. Religion, in my own opinion (and that is all it is, my opinion), is simply humanity’s attempt to identify and understand that same force through the limited lens of human understanding. Different cultures gave it different names, symbols, and stories, but that wouldn’t necessarily make any of them entirely “wrong,” just possibly incomplete. Maybe each version of religion actually holds a different piece of the puzzle, and that division prevents humanity from finding the full truth.

@BCGLounge @realannapaulina To clarify, I'm not encouraging in you to just believe he's real. I'm encouraging you to investigate if the God of the Bible is who he says he is, and enter into a saving relationship with him. Even demons believe there is a God. That doesn't save you.

@BCGLounge @realannapaulina Maybe draw near to him earnestly and see for yourself if he does exist. Maybe the rest of us aren't making this up. Maybe he isn’t real to you because you never earnestly sought him out.

Why is it always “yes” or “no?” Why not “maybe?” Maybe God exists, but not in the way religions assume. Maybe the version of God people expect, is shaped more by human interpretation than ultimate reality itself. Maybe various faith becomes a lot more humbling when you consider that maybe what you believe your version of your God to be might be nothing like what you imagined or were taught to believe. Maybe God does not exist, or maybe they do exist, but maybe God does not exist in the ways you might expect. I like “maybe,” much more.

@EssenceGui16924 @JustinPetersMin God speaks audibly to people throughout the Bible. Malachi reminds us that He is the God who changes not. Cessationists are trying to argue that God has since changed. There's a lot more scriptural support for Him continuing to speak to us than not.

@gorgesing @JustinPetersMin No where in Scripture does it say the HS has an audible voice. He does however put certain things in thoughts. He helps me say certain things when I tell ppl about Jesus or something I can do that someone prayed for. He makes us cross paths with others.

With my faith completely gone, I said one last prayer, "God, if you are real, please reveal yourself to me and I promise I will follow you." A few months later He showed up at the lowest point in my life in a very powerful, tangible, and undeniable way. I've been on fire for Him ever since.

This debate always feels like chicken or the egg to me because genuine faith in Christ never results in someone doing fewer good works. It’s the result of faith, not the requirement, in my humble opinion. We do good works because we want to please our Father. You can do good works and not have faith - but I would contend it’s impossible to have faith and do no good works. I think making it a “rule” welcomes legalism, instead of identifying it as what it is: the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Respectfully, Your friendly local Protestant

Even if every book of the Bible was lost to history we would still have scholar-accepted proof of the following facts: Jesus existed, was crucified, his disciples were noticeably transformed from terrified deserters into fearlessly being willing to endure torture and death for the claim they witnessed his Resurrection from death, and first century Christianity spread like wildfire from eyewitness accounts. If this was any other claim, the Resurrection would be held as the most well-documented event in ancient human history. But it's not just any claim. It's the claim that one man conquered death. That he miraculously fulfilled hundreds of prophecies made over thousands of years. A claim that he wasn't just a wise teacher, a good man, but rather he was exactly who he said he was when he predicted his own death and Resurrection, when he claimed that nobody goes to heaven except through him alone, when he claimed to be God. It's a claim that if true demands we change how we live our daily lives, how we treat others and who we submit to. No other academic belief in history comes with so many strings attached. A lack of belief in God isn't for an absence of proof, if you're willing to look, but rather, what that evidence means if you acknowledge it.

2000 years ago, a lower class Jewish preacher was executed as a criminal in some backwater province, while all of his followers scattered in fear. The fact that this became the most well-documented event of ancient history is in itself a miracle.

@JustinPetersMin It’s always so interesting to me that every near- death experience reports light, peace, heaven. It’s never darkness, fear, hell. Yet, God says the road is narrow. Hmmm that should tell you something.

On the left, Don Piper's book about his made-up trip to Heaven. 90 Minutes in Heaven came out in 2004. On the right, Gabe Poirot's book about his made-up trip to Heaven is coming out now. Not only are these stories unoriginal, so are the book covers. C'mon, false teachers - give it a better college try on your books than this.

We made a joke about Karens. A woman named Karen got offended and sent us an angry letter. So we wrote an article at @Not_the_Bee about the irony of it. Then another woman named Karen got mad and wrote a letter to complain about the article we'd written about the first letter.

If you were serious about supporting the President, you would support abolishing the filibuster and call out your best friend McConnell for opposing the bill. But you aren't serious—you're weak. That's why you're once again refusing to call for abolishing the filibuster.
