As a heavy oil expert, with 18 patents in 🇨🇦heavy oil production technology development and optimizations, and prior experience as a senior technical SME at a supermajor Canadian and 🇺🇸 oil companies… I am suddenly realizing that I am officially an X influencer ( not sure if it’s a good thing…) I know this because my posts inspired many friends from our sector to post about the imaginary 23.6mm barrel supply increase that was promised to our allies, based on nothing more than a guesstimate that probably wasn’t even verified with the companies involved, as seems like these conversations still ongoing…. In my view, this was extremely irresponsible promise, unlike draws from strategic reserves (which Canada doesn’t have…)which can be easily quantified and tracked. Professional journalists should keep pressing hard on this story; once the actual numbers start being uncovered, it will become clear how many assumptions are being made by people who have never operated Canadian oil assets and potentially DOUBLE-COUNTED the previously communicated production increase.
