🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham says he's looking at raising the personal tax-free allowance from £12,750 "It has dragged more people in - pensioners - and that particularly has become a growing issue"

@freddyaspinall @PolitlcsUK Look at the uk tax burden now compared to what it was and look at how many people are pensioner age compared to any other time.

@AWeeWumman @PolitlcsUK I probably pay more a month in tax than you did in an entire year when you were working

😧 "Jordan Pickford shouldn't play for England again!" ❌ "It's over!" Has Jordan Pickford come to the end of his England career?

@Jock_Rangers @talkSPORT Yes it was all on Pickford Not the fact that a 39 year old beat our defence to the byline Not that we hadn’t seen so many short corner routines beforehand so we were caught on the hop

@grumpyalget @talkSPORT Yep alot of use they were ? I'm telling you watch it again,he shoots himself in the foot by coming for it and getting stuck under it. The headers not into a corner if he's central he has a chance to save it.

@talkSPORT Thought similar myself for both goals he was badly out of position. Particularly the header.

@talkSPORT I didn't like Pickfords position on the 2d goal v Argentina. He covers the near post but there was no threat there.

Jordan Pickford has been getting away with this for far too long. For some reason middle class summer England fans love him for his passion and antics. But there’s a reason Liverpool fans *love* that he’s Everton’s goalkeeper. He drops clangers. He just isn’t good enough.

You should be forced to play this to everyone you meet @CraigHope_DM. Everyone would quickly realise you’re a know nothing wanker. Jude Bellingham doesn’t talk to you because he and his family rightly hate everything you and your colleagues stand for

@GuntherBatten @afneil I don’t like him Gunther because I believe he’s a racist but I think an apology is the least he can give especially for the families affected by the massacre, don’t you Maybe he has some decency

Marine is insanely popular in “La France Profonde”. Parisians hate her, naturally, and the Marseille mob. But when she sweeps to victory, and holds a Frexit referendum, the EU project is over. And, when Reform smash the Uniparty in 27, maybe 28, Europe will be on its way to recovery.

2 years after Le Pen was convicted she is leading the polls in France by a massive margin. My guess is Farage will win Clacton, by a massive margin on a big turnout & Binface get a few thousand votes! Clacton will tell Westminster to stick it !

@afneil He quite obviously didn’t intend to trivialise it. But wording matters, especially when you’re pitching yourself to be a Prime Minister. He was clumsy, and should really apologise and clarify. However, might I also suggest that you give him the benefit of the doubt, and move on.

Very cool, entertaining and with high production values: if I were @Nigel_Farage, I’d consider dipping into that £5 million to try to get out a video that can compare to it.

Andy Burnham is now taking a few questions, albeit in highly controlled circumstances. He’s coming across as a bit Forrest Gump: well-meaning, naïve, uninformed. So let’s get real. Here’s a proper question about a huge issue. There are almost 11m people of working age in the UK who are economically inactive. Yet Skills England reports that construction is short of 1m workers to meet the current infrastructure and housing targets — and that’s before you include Mr Burnham’s plans for a massive council house building programme. It’s a clear sign of a labour market — skills shortage AND huge inactive labour pool — not functioning properly. It needs to be put right before we have any chance of decent growth. So, Mr Burnham, what would you do to put it right?

@grumpyalget @MolineuxN @andyburnham As opposed to a named one, like yourself? All Andy Burnham will do is make a Reform Govt far more likely - and all those Labour MPs are just too up themselves to see it.
