Is there anything worse than a crying baby on a plane? I wish parents would control their children. It’s so disruptive. I refuse to believe a baby cries for 10 hours. At some point this is just bad parenting, right?

@Feisty_Waters My wife Olga was PA to the chief librarian in the 60s. There was a petting zoo in the Children’s Library downtown. One day a pregnant garter snake escaped. Soon there were little snakes in the shelves all over. Panic. The staff had to hunt them down. That was a migraine day.

I have another one of those “there were too many smells at the library yesterday” migraines.

@BretVDB Yes, I've read this quote before. An upper class (English) reaction to what she perceived as a too-clever-by-half Irish counter jumper. It's all there, classism, racism. From a woman who employed servants all her life to enable her to have time to write.

This makes me think of the poems of Denis Johnson and Dean Young, as well as the “black dog” that a poem sometimes faces in that dialogue of resistance.
