What Arab Regimes Fear Most Is Iran’s Example Even as missiles rain down on co-belligerent Arab regimes, Iran is perceived by them as a threat not primarily on account of its military power but because it embodies what sovereignty looks like when exercised as a political practice rather than as an empty formal claim, one that simultaneously indicts the past and destabilises the future. Until now, the Arab state system has operated on the premise that the US and Israel set the limits of the politically possible in the region and that regimes which accept those limits will be protected--an order maintained by a regional orthodoxy that framed subordination as a strategic and sovereign choice. But Iran is now demonstrating (not only to subservient Arab regimes but to Europe and beyond) what substantive state sovereignty means in practice, while teaching how popular sovereignty emerges once a state has constructed the collective sovereign subject that reproduces it. The result is a depth of popular identification in which even critics rally behind the state in moments of existential confrontation, defending not necessarily the government but the state as the political expression of the collective to which they belong. No Arab leader could possibly fathom how former protestors and even dissidents might refrain from undermining, much less rally behind their state in such moments, because no Arab state has constructed the collective sovereign subject that would make such identification possible. If this war confirms what is already becoming difficult to deny, that Iran and Hizbullah have imposed costs capable of deterring future aggression and reshaping the regional order, it will amount to a historical renewal of the Iranian revolution, bringing back into view the sovereignty question that gave rise to it and that the Arab order was built to suppress. The deeper danger for this order lies in that question which foregrounds what has long been concealed, that the surrender of sovereignty was always a political choice rather than a necessity and that the bargain demanding submission in exchange for protection ultimately delivered neither sovereignty nor security.

January 2025: Anti-genocide march outside BBC approved by Met Police. Then it was blocked. Why? A coordinated pressure campaign from: — Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis — Pro-‘Israel’ advocacy groups — The Board of Deputies of British Jews — Rabbi Barry Lerer — Several MPs The Board of Deputies of British Jews spearheaded the pressure. Its Vice President, Andrew Gilbert, confirmed they had been working closely with the police. For the first time, police explicitly cited the ‘cumulative impact’ of months of regular protests. Police commander Adam Slonecki said regular national demonstrations had made parts of the Jewish community ‘fearful of attending synagogues’. The Met therefore ‘determined’ the BBC was too close to a synagogue, abandoned route negotiations, banned the march entirely, and restricted to a static protest. After the protest in Whitehall, Jamal announced a delegation of leaders would walk peacefully to the BBC to lay flowers for Palestinian children. If stopped, they would lay flowers at the police line. Ben and Chris were arrested. This was a significant shift in how the Met applied powers under the Public Order Act—a move that would be repeated for the Al-Quds day march this year. At trial, it was revealed that Commander Slonecki received a letter from the Jewish Leadership Council (JLC) threatening a judicial review if he failed to impose conditions. No evidence was provided of any direct threat to the Jewish community from previous marches. Judge Daniel Sternberg refused to dismiss the case and found them guilty on all charges. Sternberg is a board member of the movement for Reform Judaism, which elects Rabbis for the Zionist Board of Deputies of British Jews. Reform Judaism's website shows clear links to ‘Israel’. Notably, Sternberg also previously dismissed a case against Tommy Robinson. This is how the lobby works: pressure institutions (the police), threaten legal action, capture the courts. Resulting in the loss of one freedom after another for the British public.

📰 | Our response to the guilty verdicts in the trial of Ben Jamal (Palestine Solidarity Campaign) and Chris Nineham (Stop the War) who were accused of breaching Public Order Act conditions at a protest in January 2025. Ben Jamal was also accused of inciting others to do so.

#Israel can afford to be seen as a war crimes regime. The #EU and the US governments will always whitewash their crimes, but the apartheid regime cannot afford to be exposed as weak. Hence, Israeli media sounds like a broken record since 2023. Israel's "lightly wounded" and "minor damage" propaganda technique makes #Turkmenistan's propaganda game look sophisticated.

As events expose the open treachery of Arab regimes, the moment is ripe for Iran to ditch strategic pragmatism and reassert its revolutionary foundational message of Islamic sovereignty. The Muslim world is crying out for it. This is a must read article.
Crescent International - https://crescent.icit-dig@CrescentIntern1

crescent.icit-digital.org/articles/expor… - Central to Iran’s framework of balancing ideals and pragmatism was the concept of exporting the Islamic Revolution—an approach that sought to empower mustad‘afin (the oppressed) and challenge western-imposed despotic regimes across the #Muslim world. Yet over the past 25 years, Tehran effectively placed this policy on pause, adopting instead a posture of strategic pragmatism.....The ongoing phase of the regional war provides a unique opportunity for #Iran to rally the Muslim street behind it. #ArabSpring2 #GCC #Islam

#LifeAfterGuantanamo. Another victim of the United States. A brother, former Guantánamo detainee, Tariq al-Sawah, is dead. Sold to the Americans by the Northern Alliance. Held at Guantánamo for nearly 15 years without trial. Tortured. Force-fed. Interrogators and psychologists experimented on him, pushing him toward false confessions. He gained over 420 pounds in U.S. custody. In 2012, his charges were dismissed based entirely on false information. In 2015, he was finally "cleared for release." So what did the U.S. do? They dropped him at Sarajevo airport with nothing. No legal status. No medical care. No support. No apology. Bosnia had already revoked his citizenship. He belonged to no country. No country claimed him. For the last 10 years, he struggled with countless health issues. He died in a coma today. Two governments destroyed this man's life, and neither will ever be held accountable. No trial. No justice. No dignity. Not even a country to die in. Remember his name: Tariq al-Sawah. This is what "cleared for release" looks like. This is what impunity looks like. #CloseGuantanamo #NeverForgetNeverForgive #Accountability

1. The reason mentioned in this 👆 episode as to why the nuclear weapon was banned by the fatwa of the Guardian Jurist is incorrect. It was banned because under Islamic law they are indiscriminate weapons of mass destruction. In Islamic jurisprudence, weapons that cause mass, uncontrollable destruction are often considered incompatible with the laws of war and protection of innocents. 2. The excuses offered in this episode for the takfiri militias installed in Damascus are childish at best. These groups promised a “new” #Syria where Islam would meaningfully inform public policy—not a crude, Machiavellian pursuit of narrow self-interest. Yet under this “Jolani is excused” mindset, the same standard isn’t applied consistently. If Jolani is merely acting in Syria’s interests, then the #GCC regimes are likewise acting in the interests of their own rule—aligning themselves with United States and #Israel to preserve power. By that logic, #Iran would never have shut down the Israeli embassy in 1979 and take a principled stance on Palestine. In reality, supporters of the so-called “revolution” in Syria were misled into backing an Israeli project in the region and now, rather than reassess, many refuse to set aside their ego and continue to misguide others.

🚨REPORT | BBC Verify says footage and expert analysis indicate a U.S. Precision Strike Missile was likely used in the March 9 strike on a sports hall in Lamerd, Iran, where children were training, killing at least 21 people, including young girls. High-resolution satellite imagery reviewed by the BBC shows the sports hall and nearby residential buildings destroyed, while the adjacent IRGC compound appears to have remained undamaged. As Drop Site’s earlier reporting documented, the missile tore through a civilian gym packed with students during training sessions, triggering panic, collapsing debris, and “continuous screaming” as injured children were pulled from the rubble. Eyewitnesses described parents arriving to find bodies of teenage girls and young athletes—some killed instantly, others buried under concrete. Both BBC and Drop Site reports are linked below.

"For the first time in centuries" the Israeli authorities stopped the Roman Catholic cardinal from performing mass on Palm Sunday at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. In hundreds of years of Muslim rule this never happened. I really want to hear Christian zionists now.
Michael Haynes 🇻🇦@MLJHaynes

JUST IN: Israeli Police prevented Cardinal Pizzaballa from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre today, as he went to say Mass. @LPJerusalem calls it a “grave precedent” which “constitutes a manifestly unreasonable and grossly disproportionate measure.” Full statement from @LPJerusalem below —— Joint Press Release The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Custody of the Holy Land Holy City of Jerusalem Palm Sunday, 29 March 2026 This morning, the Israeli Police prevented the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Head of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land, together with the Custos of the Holy Land, the Most Reverend Fr. Francesco Ielpo, OFM, the official Guardian of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, as they made their way to celebrate the Palm Sunday Mass. The two were stopped en route, while proceeding privately and without any characteristics of a procession or ceremonial act, and were compelled to turn back. As a result, and for the first time in centuries, the Heads of the Church were prevented from celebrating the Palm Sunday Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. This incident is a grave precedent, and disregard the sensibilities of billions of people around the world who, during this week, look to Jerusalem. The Heads of the Churches have acted with full responsibility and, since the outset of the war, have complied with all imposed restrictions: public gatherings were cancelled, attendance was prohibited, and arrangements were made to broadcast the celebrations to hundreds of millions of faithful worldwide, who, during these days of Easter, turn their eyes to Jerusalem and to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Preventing the entry of the Cardinal and the Custos, who bear the highest ecclesiastical responsibility for the Catholic Church and the Holy Places, constitutes a manifestly unreasonable and grossly disproportionate measure. This hasty and fundamentally flawed decision, tainted by improper considerations, represents an extreme departure from basic principles of reasonableness, freedom of worship, and respect for the Status Quo. The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Custody of the Holy Land express their profound sorrow to the Christian faithful in the Holy Land and throughout the world that prayer on one of the most sacred days of the Christian calendar has thus been prevented.
