Meet Dexter Taylor. He is a political prisoner serving a ten-year prison sentence because of the type of laws Gov. Kathy Hochul supports. All Dexter did was manufacture firearms in his own home. In 2022, an NYPD SWAT-style team raided his apartment at dawn and seized his rifles and pistols, which would be legal in much of the country but are banned under New York’s unconstitutional "ghost gun" laws. He had no prior criminal record. He never even fired the guns. During his trial, Judge Abena Darkeh explicitly told his lawyer that he could not bring up the Second Amendment in his defense. “Do not bring the Second Amendment into this courtroom,” she said. “It doesn’t exist here. So you can’t argue Second Amendment. This is New York.” Now, he is fighting for his freedom and working through the appeals process.
