Flutter Flame on WebGPU + WASM ✅ @spydon. Notes for the game say it might be slow because it pushes things. Nope. Buttery smooth in Skia Graphite.

@ThomasBurkhartB Not really tbh, there was a time when people used to use Snapchat filters and overlays as edits and then would download and post them on other socials. Way less now
English

How do you create this kind of text overlays?
I just tried Capcut and three other video editing apps. If it's so natural it should be easy to make right?

crazy how this alarm app has been going viral on tiktok with the same video for 5 months it’s making $200k/month btw

@harii_07 @KennethLayton13 The point of the image is that phones raise the shadows and lower the highlights to make everything a mid-tone, which means no depth
English

This seems like the best example I've seen of what @Davidimel keeps preaching about

my sister shot on my iphone vs on film

@Davidimel @KennethLayton13 Isn’t this down to image processing tho primarily? Even if not as good as film I’m guessing with something like moment the iPhone can get a lot closer
English

@iamaarushak Pre production done by Hollywood movies, especially Nolan is wayyyy more than most Indian movies. There are Malayalam movies that get shot in a month or two as well, cos some directors do the work and have every shot planned to the tee before the schedule starts
English

Nolan shot #TheOdyssey in just 90 days despite its massive scale, across 6+ countries and with IMAX cameras. He shot Oppenheimer in only 57 days.
Meanwhile, in India, some think a film needs 1-2 years of shooting to be called a masterpiece.
At least #AkshayKumar isn’t faking it

@morew4rd @realKlemens @jtregunna Yeah C is goated. I’m hoping carbon can finally be a true successor but that things been in development for too long already
English

@realKlemens @jtregunna I'm very at home with C. It's basically my native (computational) language.
C++ is too difficult, maybe even more difficult than Rust.
English

I came to my senses aboug Zig about almost exactly a year ago. I did give it a real try and basically had my whole basic gamedev stack ported to it.
It had a lot of potential that's wasted due to how it's managed. Now it's basically irrelevant outside of Ghostty and TigerBeetle.
Andrew Kelley is a stinky manager.

Rust > Zig I came to my senses
English

Read this on stream earlier. Big mistake. I've never been so pissed off on camera.
I cannot fathom how anyone could publish an article like this. Andrew is a petty, evil man, and you should not trust any software he writes.

crazy blogpost by andrew kelley just dropped

Such a poor take…
In ten years time, the amount of tokens they’re burning now will seem laughable and will cost ~ nothing.
These guys are finding out what wild things you can do with those tokens - like with the Bun Rust port. Who else is going to even try things like that?
David Cramer@zeeg
Honestly, frontier labs should cap the spend of their employees There's no world where you would give them a $5k let alone a $50k DAILY compute budget for funsies projects (or for things that are cheaper with humans), so don't?
English

I hope @jarredsumner has inspired all the COBOL codebases to finally port
English

The economics of coding just changed. 165k is nothing for the scope. And thats with current pricing and intelligence levels

At this point I’m genuinely convinced most of you would have kept reading the assembly code after C got popular
Theo - t3.gg@theo
How much better do the models have to get before you'll stop reading the code?
English

@RhysSullivan @ericc__ch Would you say that it’s basically now essential to be writing about your work in blogs and X as an engineer? (I’m cooked if so)
English

i wouldn't discredit yourself on not being a good engineer - i really enjoyed your write up on ericc-ch.github.io/blog/writing-m… it demonstrated a good amount of technical knowledge and ability to communicate a problem
depends on what your situation is but i'd recommend doing more of this type of writing, if i were starting from scratch today what i'd roughly do is:
- reply to larger accounts w/ meaningful comments about what they're doing
- build things that showcase a companies product, i.e "i put generative ui in eve" or "i built a dashboard framework for flue", companies love to highlight the work of what people are doing so it's a really good way to open doors
- figure out what it is you do enjoy, whether its the engineering, the technical writing, the product - it might be none of them and thats ok but i think you're selling yourself short
keep me posted on what you end up doing
