One year of the Urbe Hub. February 15, 2025, we opened a space in Rome for builders. Not sure if it would work. Not sure if people would show up. They did. Workshops and late nights working on projects. Roma matches on the screen. Urbe Village, our first pop-up city, brought the community together for two weeks. Meetups, hacker houses, deep technical dives. A place where builders show up every day. AKASHA made this possible. They understood what we were testing: permanent infrastructure, not temporary hype. The Ethereum Foundation recognized the Hub as an official Ethereum Community Hub. The road was right. This first year has been a test. We took a difficult path, maintaining a physical space in an industry that moves online by default. But the Hub had an impact on our lives, on our community, on Rome. We showed it was possible. Technology will change. What won't: human connections and builders you want to work with, have fun with, and build the future with. The Hub now has an ambitious plan to make a bigger impact in our city and become a Frontier Tech Hub where new ideas are tested and shipped. Year two starts now.

In a world that’s shifting faster than ever, where the future feels increasingly unpredictable, @urbeEth has always been my anchor. From meetups and workshops to spontaneous chats over a BBQ, every moment at the Hub has expanded my understanding of Web3, AI, Quantum Computing, and the deeper transformations reshaping our society. Italy, and especially Rome, is extraordinary in its history, culture, and beauty. Yet when it comes to frontier innovation, we are still years behind many other European and Western ecosystems. With limited interest and support from institutions, universities, and often even enterprises, Urbe stands out as a rare and courageous exception, a community that looks at emerging technologies not with fear, but with curiosity and ambition. I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by people I can learn from daily, people who challenge me to think deeper about Web3, AI, the future of work, and the broader evolution of society. It’s the only way I’ve found to face uncertainty without anxiety, knowing that no matter what happens in 6 months, 1 or 10 years, there will always be a place where I can find answers.
