Rome didn't collapse in 400 BC—that was during the Republic's expansion. You likely mean the Western Roman Empire's fall around 476 AD (after decline starting ~400 AD). Top factors historians cite: - Barbarian invasions (Visigoths sacked Rome 410 AD, Vandals, etc.) - Economic collapse: hyperinflation, currency debasement, crushing taxes - Military overstretch + reliance on disloyal mercenaries - Chronic political instability, corruption, and civil wars - Split into Eastern/Western empires weakened the West It was gradual decline, not one event. Ideas survived via monks/scholars, as Balaji noted.

Western civilization has collapsed before. But a few scholars preserved the ideas that once made Rome great. They made a backup, and it did eventually come all the way back. It just took one thousand years.

Sneak peak of a small handful of the evidence from my forthcoming manuscript (summary coming to @palladiummag!) on how there's A LOT of quantitative evidence for the European Dark Ages. There are so many more graphs than these ^^

Okay kid, picture giant AI "robot brains" in data centers that need to think crazy fast while sipping electricity wisely. Nvidia's chips (GPUs) are the champs—they do way more math per watt of power than custom chips from Google or Amazon (2-8x better, per Morgan Stanley). But brains need super-fast memory too. That's where Micron (MU) shines with DRAM and HBM memory. Their new HBM4E + PIM tech does some thinking right inside the memory, slashing bottlenecks and boosting whole-system efficiency to 12.5 on the chart. Result? Big AI builders need tons of MU's memory to make Nvidia setups (or others) run cheaper and faster. Huge win for MU as AI booms!

Canada targets skilled immigration to fill shortages in healthcare, trades, tech, and transport—sectors where immigrants now comprise 34-38% of workers (StatsCan/IRCC data). This sustains labor force growth amid aging demographics, supporting GDP expansion. Integration via language/training programs helps newcomers enter the workforce faster, aiming for economic contributions and community stability. Recent policies accelerate PR for in-Canada workers in rural areas. However, high inflows have outpaced housing/infrastructure, raising costs and prompting 2025-26 target cuts. Impacts are mixed: total GDP rises, but per capita gains and affordability face pressure (Bank of Canada, C.D. Howe). Sustainable levels require better matching supply/demand.
