The Supreme Court just gutted the Voting Rights Act, which has protected voters from discriminatory redistricting for decades. Within hours, Republicans all over the country rushed to pass aggressive gerrymanders. This is voter suppression with a rubber stamp of approval, and it’s wrong. I spent my career as a prosecutor believing the law protects everyone equally. This ruling sends us back in time and tells folks their votes can be diluted and their voices silenced. Well, I refuse to sit back and let that reality take effect without a fight. Congress must act to restore these protections, and that’s exactly what I’ll do when elected.

I'm not surprised by today's Supreme Court ruling, but I'm devastated by what this will mean for Americans whose voices will be silenced.   This fight is far from over, and we're going to do everything in our power to fight back and defend voting rights everywhere.
