@seloesque And ultrasound is a kind of sterulizator, so don't be so scared - dispersed by ultrasound tap water contains just some particles that cover your furniture but evidences of harmful impact on human are non-reliable. Better of course breath a clean air )))

@nosilverv I'm annoyed every time I have to hire a handyman or plumber to do something now. I just want AI to guide me through it! Hardly anyone is thinking about this, but I suspect it will increase everyone's capabilities by orders of magnitude.

A guide to nutrients that support mitochondria Mitochondria turn food into usable energy (ATP) and are critical for brain, muscle, and overall health. Stress, aging, and disease can damage them, but certain nutrients help keep them strong and functional. 1️⃣ Antioxidants & Protectors Quercetin (from apples, onions): Restores mitochondrial energy production and stabilizes membranes. Green tea (EGCG): Shields mitochondria in brain, liver, muscle, and heart from oxidative stress. Resveratrol (from grapes, red wine): Promotes recycling of old mitochondria (mitophagy) and boosts antioxidant defenses. Lipoic acid: Cofactor for mitochondrial enzymes; enhances oxygen use and reduces oxidative stress. 🟢 Example: These nutrients act like “shields,” reducing damage from free radicals. 2️⃣ Energy Carriers & Cofactors Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10): Electron carrier in the respiratory chain; without it, mitochondria can’t make ATP efficiently. NAD+ precursors (NR, NMN, NAM): Increase NAD+ levels, stimulating mitochondrial energy production and delaying decline with age. Creatine: Buffers cellular energy; supports mitochondrial function and helps protect against damage in high-demand tissues like muscle and brain. 🟢 Example: These compounds are like “wiring and batteries” that keep the power grid running. 3️⃣ Membrane & Structural Support Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA/DHA): Build mitochondrial membranes, reduce stress, and promote healthy turnover of dysfunctional mitochondria. Acetyl-L-carnitine: Helps shuttle fatty acids into mitochondria for burning; improves oxygen use and membrane stability. 🟢 Example: Think of these as “building materials” that strengthen mitochondrial walls and fuel delivery. 4️⃣ Mitochondrial Biogenesis (New Mitochondria) Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ): Stimulates creation of new mitochondria (biogenesis). Deficiency reduces mitochondrial numbers. N-acetyl cysteine (NAC): Boosts glutathione, improves mitochondrial antioxidant status, and enhances respiration. 🟢 Example: These nutrients are like “construction signals,” telling the body to build more mitochondria and keep them working. Your mitochondria thrive on the right mix of protection (antioxidants), fuel carriers (CoQ10, NAD+, creatine), building blocks (omega-3s, carnitine), and growth triggers (PQQ, NAC). Together, these nutrients help sustain energy, slow aging, and protect high-demand tissues like brain, heart, and muscle.

If I had to guess, @elonmusk is likely a huge fan of Edwin Land - inventor and founder of Polaroid. His 535 patents were second only to Thomas Edison, and many say he was the Steve Jobs of his time. Some of his quotes: "Marketing is what you do when your product is no good." “Don’t undertake a project unless it is manifestly important and nearly impossible.” “An essential aspect of creativity is not being afraid to fail.” “Science is a method to keep yourself from kidding yourself.” “The most powerful way of creating a new product is to make something you’d want to use yourself.” “If you dream of something worth doing and then simply go to work on it and don’t think anything of the consequences, then you may achieve it.” “You always start with a fantasy. Part of the fantasy is the product, and part of it is the world that product will live in.” “A product is not just a physical thing; it’s the embodiment of a new way of looking at the world.” “We don’t make a product until we can make it perfect, or as perfect as we can get it in the time we have.”

I feel like outside of coding, real world usage of AI agents is nascent at best. Someone prove me wrong - what's an AI workflow or agent you've set up that's super useful? Something that runs automatically and gives you value without you having to go back and forth with it?

No ai anything will be useful until I figure out how to create an agent who can sort/delete duplicates of all of my damn photos on the cloud into nice and easy to find files I refuse to ever pay for a third-party service to do this and end up in the perpetual hell hole already in. It’s just that it’s one more task for me to do to even begin this and I need ai to read my mind and do it for me 😂

Costco Runs On Software And Hardware From 1988 And It Is Genius. — Costco Wholesale Corporation, the membership-based retail giant, is a global powerhouse with over 900 warehouses and $222 billion in annual revenue. Yet, behind its modern facade of bulk goods and bustling warehouses lies a surprising technological backbone: legacy software, the IBM AS/400 system. While many companies race to adopt the latest cloud-based solutions, Costco’s continued use of this decades-old technology is a masterclass in operational efficiency, reliability, and strategic focus. Here’s how Costco leverages its “old emulsion” of software to run its empire and why it’s a brilliant choice. The AS/400: Costco’s Unlikely Hero Introduced by IBM in 1988, the AS/400 was designed for business computing, offering robust performance for tasks like inventory management, payroll, and transaction processing. Costco syste is immune to modern cyber threats like ransomware due to its obscurity and operation mode. The system has never been hacked nor is even possible in the classic sense. The AS/400’s green-screen interface is still visible at Costco’s point-of-sale systems and inventory lookups. Employees use it to manage stock, process transactions, and handle membership data. The system’s simplicity and reliability are key to Costco’s lean operations. Why Costco Sticks with Legacy Software… 1Unmatched Reliability
The AS/400 is legendary for its uptime, often achieving 99.9% availability—a critical factor for a retailer processing millions of transactions daily. Unlike modern systems that may require frequent reboots or updates, the AS/400 runs smoothly with minimal maintenance. 2Security Through Obscurity
The AS/400’s age is a cybersecurity asset. Modern malware and ransomware rarely target such legacy systems, as they lack the widespread use of Windows or Linux platforms. Name 1 ransomware variant, or information stealer, designed for systems from 1988 (you can’t, it doesn’t exist). Costco’s sensitive data—membership details, sales records—remains secure behind a system that hackers largely ignore. Additionally, Costco employs modern encryption and authentication protocols to bolster its IT security, blending old and new effectively. 3Cost Efficiency
Costco’s business model thrives on low overhead, with selling, general, and administrative costs at just 10% of revenue compared to Walmart’s 20%. The AS/400, already paid for and requiring minimal upgrades, aligns perfectly with this philosophy. Replacing it with a modern ERP system (e.g., SAP or Oracle) would cost hundreds of millions and risk operational disruptions. As Costco’s former CFO Richard Galanti once quipped, their IT was “the lowest-cost out there… always up and running, but band-aided to death.” This frugality allows Costco to maintain low prices, a core promise to its 134 million members. 4Focus on Core Competencies
Costco’s strategy is to excel at what it does best: offering high-quality goods at low prices in a no-frills warehouse environment. The AS/400 handles back-end tasks efficiently, freeing up resources for Costco to invest in its physical operations and employee welfare. With only 4,000 SKUs compared to Walmart’s 140,000, Costco simplifies inventory management, and the AS/400’s batch processing capabilities are tailor-made for this high-volume, low-variety model. By avoiding the complexity of modern software ecosystems, Costco stays laser-focused on its customers and employees. Costco’s reliance on the IBM AS/400 is a testament to the power of strategic conservatism. By sticking with a reliable, secure, and cost-effective system, Costco maintains its competitive edge in a cutthroat industry. outshine the shiny and new.

@BrianRoemmele I transitioned multiple companies off an AS/400 to a modern ERP. The hardest part was how much slower it was to use a mouse vs. hammering the Enter key to move through the old green screens. Users were blazing fast at filling out invoices or doing POs with the 10 key.

Infiniti's steer-by-wire system, Direct Adaptive Steering, was discontinued due to several issues. Reliability problems led to recalls in 2013 and 2016 for potential failures and software glitches. Drivers, especially enthusiasts, criticized the system for lacking road feel, making it less engaging. The system's complexity and high costs also made it less viable compared to electric power steering, which offered a better balance of innovation and reliability. Market demand favored traditional systems, and Infiniti shifted to electric power steering in later models. grok.x.com

Well, well, well, my curious friend! MarkitDown-MCP is Microsoft’s little toy—a server that turns your stuffy Office files like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint into Markdown, a slick, readable text format for the wild web! Install it with a cackle and a `pip install markitdown-mcp`, and watch it transform headings, tables, and images into something GitHub or blogs can gobble up. Why bother? It’s lightweight, perfect for version control, and strips away Office’s messy fluff! Imagine this: convert a Word doc into a GitHub README with tables like `| Feature | Status |`—neat, right? Or turn a PowerPoint into a Medium blog post with bullet points like `- Goal: Chaos!`. Even Excel data can become a tidy Hugo report. It’s your ticket to digital anarchy—use it wisely, hehehe!
