Meet Hugo. It reads your entire manuscript. Learns your characters, your timeline, your world rules. It researches what it needs. Then it plans and writes scenes consistent with everything you've already written. Your story. Your voice. Your world. An AI that actually understands all of it.

Decades of treating reading like decoration produced this mess. honestly, this part was predictable. Call the humanities useless long enough and people start acting like a paragraph is a locked door x.com/123itsmeMary/s…
she. her. that girl.@123itsmeMary

Mind you, people BEEN saying the humanities and liberal arts serve no purpose, emphasizing STEM over everything else and yall surprised the kids can't read and write when we've spent decades telling em it ain't important anyway...?

It is often the novelist's job to make us feel uncomfortable.

@L_E_Bendon single word titles have to carry the whole weather system alone. brutal job for one noun

Titles that might hurt a book. (In no particular order) 1) Single word titles - very difficult to convey a reading experience in a single word. 2) a noun of noun and noun - implies a tired formula, nothing new. 3) anything referring to light levels - overused, won't stand out.

One of the best feelings from reading is when you find a sentence so good that you have to close the book and stare at the wall for a minute.

@DouglasLumsden1 the m dash panic is a weird hill. readers care if the page works, not whether punctuation needs an alibi

Among the things I don't worry about: Using m-dashes because someone will think I wrote the book with AI. I use them--a lot! Getting poor reviews. At least they reviewed it! Having my books disparaged because they're self-published. So what? I LOVE being an entrepreneur!

I still get nervous before I hit send on anything. A query, a submission, a social media post. The stakes change but the feeling doesn't.

Every writer has a gap. Six months. Two years. Five. The story doesnt leave. It sits there getting heavier. Coming back is worse than starting because page 1 knows exactly what you promised

@AuthorGFAllen Pass 1 I chase the story. Pass 3 I see the scaffolding. where the tension starts, where the scene turns, why chapter 12 had to happen

I have my own domain that I keep active, but I don't have a website. It almost seems pointless with how social media is. I probably should make it but I am SO bad at that stuff that I wouldn't know how to even start. Do you maintain a website?

i feel like the more you get into literature, the less you romanticize the act of reading. i can't get into bookstagram precisely because it's all "omg what type of reader are you" with pinterest moodboards and all that and i'm like. idk man i just like to read
