This is Bode's (left) and Cigar (right) galaxies. We are looking through our Milky Way to view these two galaxies, you see some haze/fog around them - the is called Integrated Flux Nebula and is from clouds in our own Milky Way. Both galaxies have star forming regions (red areas). The neat thing is the blue smudge just above the left galaxy, that is a Dwarf Galaxy called Holmberg IX, home of very young stars and pretty hard to capture without a lot of imaging hours. This image is from over 24 hours of exposures. The galaxies are about 12 million light years away from Earth. These galaxies are interacting with each other even though they are separated by ~100,000 light years. Captured with a ZWO FF130 APO scope.
First light with RedCat 91. Doubles my focal length. And yes, I have aperture fever. This is a tighter framing of just Jelly Fish Nebula in SHO. 5 hours of integration. Pardon the poor cable management in rig image below (it's all cleaned up now)
@AtomicMuseum Try to see the documentary Trinity and Beyond where you got all the amazing sequence of arm and shot this atomic shell.
It's one of my favorite sequence.
Grable was the first and only nuclear test fired from a 280-mm gun.
It detonated more 11,000 yards (10 km/6.25 mi) away from the gun that fired it over a part of the Nevada Test Site known as Frenchman Flat.
(Very much finally) Releasing SatDump 1.2.0!
A lot has changed in this release, and it especially finally brings support for products from geostationary satellites such as GOES HRIT.

Finishing up my Orbcomm work a while ago... Adding a pipeline to do these plots live for VHF antenna checks etc.
It's quite cool to see the satellite's path draw in realtime though! :-)

It has been confirmed that the #Taurus interception was done via “a non-secure line”. Below is my opinion of one way in which it *might* have been done, taking into account the situation and #Russia's previous history.
Essentially it involves using #SS7 interception.

Not posted for a while. New S-Band setup on 1.2M prime focus dish. attempted IM-1 but no luck, dish AZ n EL not yet fully calibrated, so another try next weekend.

A brief clearing allowed me to check-up on the position of PAN/NEMESIS-1, a classified US SIGINT satellite in GEO that has been slowly drifting westwards the past months.
It is now close to EXPRESS AMU-1 (aka Ekspress-AMU1, aka Eutelsat 36C) and probably still drifting.
Believe it or not, in the years 1950-1951, the A. C. Gilbert Company distributed the Gilbert U-238 Atomic Energy Lab, a toy kit allowing kids to make nuclear reactions at home using actual radioactive material. It was taken off the shelves in 1951

Currently Canberra's DSS35 is supporting #CAPSTONE which has just successfully completed another trajectory correction maneuver (TCM). The ballistic lunar transfer is a brilliant mathematical solution that is beyond my level of understanding no matter how many times I read it.
