@neetintel @livsanns46868 @IpowpowUnownow you’re getting boosted by a bigger account and being an obtuse jackass to a broader audience than you’re used to, most of whom are just seeking context in good faith

@livsanns46868 @IpowpowUnownow A lot of people are asking Grok 'what is this' which is a completely ridiculous use of AI. What AI is good at it, particularly, is rephrasing things *existing* you're having trouble understanding and explaining it to you.

@allgarbled I mean if it can order from the store along my route that will have it ready at the same time as I’ll be passing that store, I’ll be pretty impressed.

@DylanoA4 I have multiple stories that relate to this line. Never posted them because I don't want to tempt fate, but it is a powerfully true line.

@izakaminska @70sBachchan dictating that it “probably needs to be studied by academics” when you aren’t aware of what academics have been studying for a long time is already bad doing so as a “founder editor” of something literally called “The Blind Spot” just pushes this into satire territory

@izakaminska @70sBachchan this post is really ironic bc the effect you are describing was very clearly articulated in publicly available literature decades ago lol

The hysterical reaction to Palantir’s “manifesto” demonstrates the total stupidity of how information disseminates and gets absorbed these days. I call it the packet curse. I’ve seen so many accounts claiming this is some sort of sudden declaration of intent, when nothing in the post is new. All of these arguments were fully set out in Karp and Zamiska’s book over a year ago. The post is basically a synopsis of the book. And if you read the actual book, you understand the grander context, which imho comes across as entirely reasonable. There were some great points in it. But of course nobody reads books anymore. And the lag between information becoming publicly available and being absorbed by the public/market consciousness only grows larger every day. This effect probably needs to be studied by academics focused on efficient market hypothesis. I think it resembles a sort of latent virus effect, where the true consequences of a piece info beginning to circulate don’t become apparent until something triggers an activation. It is a very weird environment. We are both over exposed to information and more under informed than ever.

Microsoft pulled all of our GPUs from us a couple of weeks ago without explanation. I think it's likely because Anthropic needed compute and all the small guys like us got kicked out. It's part of the game and just how it goes, but highlights how much dependency risk companies are going to have on Microsoft and other cloud providers when it comes to compute for running inference on agents. Companies are going to deploy agents then just get rug pulled on their compute. Fortunately for us, we have deep experience in energy and our clients are some of the biggest energy producers in the world. We will eventually build on-prem compute for our clients on their energy assets. This will allow them to have closed loop systems where they own the energy, the compute, and the AI stack.

@BowTiedCrow Costco keeps is Gold Membership rates at or below a California regulation that caps nominal membership rates. Anything above that rate has an added sales tax. Since CA remains a major part of their revenue base (~20%) they have historically not pushed the basic fee above it.

stopping PEPFAR is genuinely cruel and evil with no upside. a very cheap program that saves tens of millions of lives. it is a brainworm to see everything in the language of exploitation and the exploited and does not bring out the best in a culture

Taiwan made the largest single greenfield FDI in US history through TSMC. Now, instead of receiving gratitude for helping the struggling US chip industry, Taiwan faces potential tariffs. In his zero-sum worldview, there are no friends. x.com/WilliamYang120…
