@BradWitbeck @Snaggle97776422 You mistake the whole premise of the video. he is responding to the Orthodox argument that their church is special, and therefore the better church, by showing places where the Orthodox church has changed it's doctrines over time. Each point is aimed at that argument.

Okay, I don't really have time for this, but here’s what he got wrong—it’s primarily in his framing, selective emphasis, and caricature. 1. The Eastern Orthodox Church doesn’t practice Idolatry as he implies. They view veneration very differently than worship, and framing it as blatant idolatry that’s required for salvation oversimplifies and ignores their consistent explanations—you’ll notice this is a trend. 2. He layers in veiled accusations of the Eastern Orthodox being corrupted by change over time, noting their icon veneration starting in the 8th Century. He does this while insisting Protestants stick to the first Century Bible, though this guy is a Reformed Calvinist, right? It could be easily argued that his teaching rely more on Augustine than strictly the Bible, and thus are late, around 400’s, and also corrupt. He also does this while (again) ignorine and oversimplifying their view of apostolic tradition and development. 3. He presents the sale of indulgences as some core teaching of Eastern Orthodox, rather than the response to Roman Catholic sale of indulgences in Syria, Palestine, and Egypt that was also designed to challenge the idea that people needed the Pope for full absolution. He also (again) ignores and oversimplifies the differences between Indulgences and Absolution Certificates and how they were in competition with one another, heavy Ottoman taxation, and local administrative tradition AND how the practice was ended over financial abuse. 4. For Baptism Fees, I’ve seen the Orthos themselves explain this in a bunch of places now—that baptism itself is free, and they’re not requiring anyone to pay for salvation. Any fees getting posted are just suggested donations for priests/parishes to help cover operational costs and are usually expected to be covered by someone other than the one being baptized and is often waived if people can’t afford it. It seems pretty dishonest to me for him to frame it as buying salvation if that’s the case. 5. Finally, we get another oversimplification of the Faith vs. Faith and Works argument that ignores the Eastern Orthodox understanding of involvement of grace in works. This guy spends the entire video having the Orthodox version of himself hold up strawmen for his Reformed self to punch down, using comedy (if you can call it that) as a thin veneer excuse his priority of gotchas and lack of context. Does that count as getting things “wrong” in your eyes? Or does a half-truth make it good enough for you because it’s attacking someone you disagree with? If he had strong critiques he could make them without needing to misrepresent his opponent’s views—AND it might actually be convincing to Eastern Orthodox believers rather than only resonating with people who already agree with him.

@BradWitbeck @tyabm I don't think I've seen this guy say "fuck mormons, I hate those guys" or anything even close to that, he disagrees with you and is laying that disagreement out because he loves you and wants you telo reach heaven. This is no more hateful than a Mormon missionary on the street.

@BradWitbeck @tyabm Ah yes, the "anyone who talks about or makes entertaining videos about something they disagree with is hateful" argument. Cultists are freaking weird.

How did high-skilled immigrants from India both support America’s 2000s tech boom and spark India’s transformation into the world’s largest IT exporter? Hint: it’s not a story of “brain drain” — it’s actually one of brain circulation. Learn more.

@LibertyJen @f_sabre @mathbud1 @CyborgPeds I'm a veteran. But I'm not over here saying that my prior service makes it ok for me to be an asshole. You pathetic ex cops however think everyone should kiss your feet for handing out speed trap tickets and preventing people from keeping and bearing arms.

@LibertyJen @dynamiteddan @CyborgPeds Funny. By the pathetic, petty lawfare you would employ to ruin him with criminal charges you would also be guilty. Assault or battery in most jurisdictions include any willful unwanted contact, both your seat and his drink fit that definition. But whatever. Live your life Karen.

Little rant about my experience as an artist and how I see AI bros' behavior When I was a kid, I was called a gifted kid because I could draw, and it fascinated both classmates and Adults. I'm sure a lot of fellow artists had a similar experience, since it was quite rare to see irl especially before socials became so widespread. Some were envious, some simply curious, and some trying to befriend me to get free art even then. Honestly I didn't mind the ego boost, but I noticed a repeated pattern of "I wish I could do that!" "you're so lucky you can draw" "you're so talented, unlike me", dismissing their own skills or insisting they couldn't do anything. Adults said something fun wasnt a real job, that I should think of getting a job like theirs instead. Now in the era of AI 'art', those same persons who used to envy artists have an easy access to an illusion of talent and skill. They spit on the stolen work of every artist whose art has been fed into AI to flatter their fragile ego and look down on artists. They say artists will loose their jobs and get replaced, when they don't even understand why that's false or what it takes. But the truth is they cope, they stay in the comfort of denial, saying THEY created the results AI give them. Saying prompting is a skill, because they want it to be one. They'd kill to do the same as artists, to have a passion, a talent, to captivate people and get praised for something they created with their own hands. To make money out of their passion. But besides AI bros boosting each other's egos, no one will genuinely compliment AI 'art'. And if anyone did, upon learning it was AI they'll take it back because it has no value at all. It's stolen, empty, and made with no passion or love whatsoever (and probably a ton of mistakes up close too) I just think it's sad because anyone can draw well. It just takes practice, but they're not even willing to try. Instead, they just hide behind insults and superior complex. Behind a false sense of achievement. NO ARTIST will ever say "you have no skill, you suck" to someone genuinely trying to get into art. The art community is very welcoming, just pick up the pen and have fun with us!
Michael@TheMG3D

If you’re bad at drawing the only way to get better is to keep drawing. Using Gen AI doesn’t make you an artist

@SNationalist91 Yep, wasn't it obvious he was a conservative? "I can swing my sword is obviously about 3D printed guns. And he constantly had the biggest right wing tell, he vocally enjoyed sexy adult women. If he was liberal he would have been drooling over lizzo or something like that.

@romanhelmetguy Rare helmet guy L. Monopolies are not intrinsically more profitable, they also lack the competitive stimuli that keeps companies lean enough to stay profitable. Bureaucratic bloat in the natural state of a company.

This is her dumbest take. Monopolies form naturally. Monopolies are much more profitable than competitive industries. So if you find yourself in a competitive industry, it makes sense to buy out or collude with all your competitors, or to temporarily take a loss in order to drive them out of business. The government itself is a naturally-forming monopoly on violence. Ayn Rand is frequently guilty of this kind of magical thinking in which everything would be perfect if the government just disappeared. Well, there are still large parts of Africa today in which there is effectively no government. Is it utopia? Meanwhile the Industrial Revolution could not have taken place without the financial incentives put in place by intellectual property law such as patents, which require an incredibly strong government to enforce. The right really needs to get away from this whole “everything the government does is bad” loser mindset.
Sowell Economics@sowelleconomics

Ayn Rand: "Under a free system, no one could acquire a monopoly on anything. If you look at economics, and economic history, you will discover that all monopolies have been established with government help."

@idkusername97 Proving my point. You speak on that which you have no real clue and attack based on lies. You attacking and bearing false witness in the attempt is not Christian. So maybe stop the accusations while standing on your pharisaic pedestal

@IronRodWarrior Does the book of Mormon not claim that Christ has a biological lineage with a mother and father? Do you not believe in uncountable gods each with their own worlds. The scriptures clearly show God explaining that there are no other gods. What I said was clear, repent.

@Piecemaker2121 Simple. Because letting a wolf into my henhouse is a bad idea even when the wolf claims to be my ally. Truth matters. You don't believe that God is the one and only God, therefore you call Christ a liar.

I don't get it. Wouldn't Protestants, Catholics, et al. WANT members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as allies fighting on their side against the great evils of our day? Aren't there more pressing issues in the world that we could fight together despite our slight differences in Christian theology? This is literally how we see you from other faiths. Why go to such great lengths to exclude, vilify, tear down, and misrepresent our beliefs? Can you not afford us even an inkling of grace? Would it hurt to give us the benefit of the doubt even if only sometimes? Is believing that The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are separate beings really that big of an issue to where we are now worthy of attack? The reason Latter-day Saints still try to associate ourselves with you in an interfaith context is BECAUSE we want to fight those evils with you. We share so many of the same values and want many of the same things. It's just silly.
