@ItsMrsWilkes People like this are a nuisance, but they didn't do anything that would require a firearm intervention. Personally I would have found the manager and asked him to have these harassers removed or I'm going to a different store.

@EROSaltLakeCity “We refuse to right to serve anyone.” 🤣 Unless you’re a protected class, this is perfectly legal. And citizens have a right to be “recording/taking photos.” Keep spying on Americans, you Nazis. Corrupt, rogue agency who takes joy in running roughshod over Constitution.

As ICE was busy making Idaho safer, employees at gas station in Pocatello were recording/taking photos during a routine transfer of detainees. The employees then refused to serve our officers & verbally trespassed them. /1

I find this discourse perplexing because the solution seems straigthforward: make university marks almost entirely dependent on lengthy in-person exams that combine handwritten essays with oral questioning. Why is this even a conversation? Are there implementation barriers or something?
Luiza Jarovsky, PhD@LuizaJarovsky

🚨 University professors have been saying AI is completely destroying learning and that we'll soon have an AI-powered, semi-illiterate workforce. Here's a glimpse into the educational apocalypse: "Sarah, a freshman at Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, said she first used ChatGPT to cheat during the spring semester of her final year of high school. (...) After getting acquainted with the chatbot, Sarah used it for all her classes: Indigenous studies, law, English, and a “hippie farming class” called Green Industries. “My grades were amazing,” she said. “It changed my life.” Sarah continued to use AI when she started college this past fall. Why wouldn’t she? Rarely did she sit in class and not see other students’ laptops open to ChatGPT. Toward the end of the semester, she began to think she might be dependent on the website. She already considered herself addicted to TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and Reddit, where she writes under the username maybeimnotsmart. “I spend so much time on TikTok,” she said. “Hours and hours, until my eyes start hurting, which makes it hard to plan and do my schoolwork. With ChatGPT, I can write an essay in two hours that normally takes 12.” - "By November, Williams estimated that at least half of his students were using AI to write their papers. Attempts at accountability were pointless. Williams had no faith in AI detectors, and the professor teaching the class instructed him not to fail individual papers, even the clearly AI-smoothed ones. “Every time I brought it up with the professor, I got the sense he was underestimating the power of ChatGPT, and the departmental stance was, ‘Well, it’s a slippery slope, and we can’t really prove they’re using AI,’” Williams said. “I was told to grade based on what the essay would’ve gotten if it were a ‘true attempt at a paper.’ So I was grading people on their ability to use ChatGPT.” - AI in education is a serious topic, and many schools and universities are blindly jumping into the "AI-first" wave without considering short and long-term consequences. It would be great to hear more from teachers and educators to understand potential solutions. This might be a great opportunity for rethinking the education system and how students are assessed. - 👉 Link to the full article below. 👉 To learn more about AI's legal and ethical challenges, join my newsletter's 94,700+ subscribers (link below).

FIRST ON FOX: Shocking video shows a Texas father fatally shooting an illegal immigrant from Mexico as the migrant tried to carjack his vehicle with his family inside. Officials say suspect Jose Ramirez parked at a nearby gas station and was unsuccessfully attempting to "take several vehicles by force" in the parking lot. Ramirez was then seen running across the road to a convenience store parking lot where he attempts to forcefully take the father's car. While Ramirez was unarmed, authorities say he was "using force," and the father had no way of knowing whether he had a weapon.

@cocaine_james00 @MattWalshBlog Liberty rights are irrelevant when debating criminalization of behavior. I asked YOU what your point was. So far, all you have said is "here are some celebs I idolize" and when you couldn't make one, you just started insult hurling. This is why people walk away when you talk.

'cared for in a cell' LMAO that is about the dumbest thing I have ever read. You are talking about depriving people of the most basic human/Constitutional rights, under the argument they are better off in jail. I bet you that they don't believe they are better off in the care of the American penal system. Please shutup.

@cocaine_james00 @MattWalshBlog If thats your position you should make an argument as to why instead of listing a bunch of celebs who made it out of homelessness. You haven't said why you think these vagrants are better suffering on the street than cared for in a cell.

@ifCorrelate @MattWalshBlog No, I am saying you cannot lock up people based on poverty. And vagrancy is not a serious enough crime to justify incarceration. That is just plain sick.

@cocaine_james00 @MattWalshBlog So your argument is what, that the massive homelessness problem is okay because it creates a pipeline for celebrity rags to riches stories? We don't evaluate homelessness by looking at the outliers.

That means, if your crazy ass was in charge, all of these people (all more succesfull than you) would have been institutianalized: Jim Carrey — As a teenager, his family lost their home and lived out of a van for a period while he worked odd jobs. Oprah Winfrey — Grew up in severe poverty and experienced periods of housing insecurity during childhood. Tyler Perry — Was homeless multiple times in the 1990s while trying to launch his theater career, sometimes sleeping in his car. Jewel — Lived in her car after losing housing while pursuing music in San Diego. Chris Gardner — Spent time homeless with his young son before becoming a successful stockbroker. His story inspired the movie The Pursuit of Happyness. Steve Harvey — Lived in his car for several years while struggling to break into stand-up comedy. Shania Twain — Experienced periods of homelessness and poverty after family hardship. Sylvester Stallone — Was homeless in New York City for a time before writing and starring in Rocky. Daniel Craig — Has said he slept on park benches early in his acting career before becoming famous as James Bond. Jennifer Lopez — Briefly experienced homelessness after leaving home as a teenager to pursue dance. Dwayne Johnson — Experienced eviction and severe financial instability as a teen; he has often spoken about having “seven bucks” to his name before rebuilding his life. Halle Berry — Stayed in a homeless shelter in New York City early in her acting career.

@sharondaniel91 @FoxNews Pretty sure you have to threaten, coerce, or prevent the person from leaving the car, not just the car from leaving the parking space, for this to qualify as false imprisonment. Which may or may not have occurred.

@FoxNews Why are they blocking a car that should be illegal? They’re holding someone hostage. If you do that. I don’t understand protesters. They’re doing stupid things they’re not expecting consequences.

Cornell University’s president says he's the victim of "harassment and intimidation" after being accused of reversing into a group of individuals with his car following an Israel-Palestinian debate. "These individuals followed me from the event space and across campus, while loudly shouting questions and recording on their phones," he said. "They continued to follow me to my car and then surrounded the car, banging on the windows, blocking the car, and shouting. I waited until I saw space behind the car and then, using my car’s rear pedestrian alert and automatic braking system, was able to slowly maneuver my car from the parking space and exit the parking lot," he added.

@AlexProTheGreat @BigChief0_ @exec_sum Its a risk assessment. You weigh the potential damage to your brand and likelihood of it occuring and generate a number from there. Reputational and stock price damage does not require even an once of substance.

@ifCorrelate @jmkettle Not a single part of that has anything to do with you saying "its retarded". It has to do with you saying "the law". There is no law implicated here, just a very risk averse Google policy. Google doesn't write laws.

🇩🇰 Copenhagen's Green-led council is limiting elderly care residents to 80 grams of beef per week for climate reasons. That works out to 11.4 grams a day, which is less meat than most people put in a single taco. A Green party rep explained the logic: the elderly "have been the biggest climate sinners throughout their lives." So the plan is apparently to make them atone for it in their final years, one thimble of mince at a time. Critics, including opposition parties and elderly advocates, say the policy risks undernutrition in a population already vulnerable to it. The council says it's flexible, but the elderly eating climate penance for dinner might disagree. Source: BT, Ekstra Bladet

Met someone recently Father of 2, works in tech sales, wife is a consultant Says “we’re actually going to move to Europe next year” I asked if they have EU passports He says no I asked which of their companies are going to transfer/sponsor them He says they’re not going to tell their employers I asked how long they planned to be in Europe then He said indefinitely… just put the kids in local schools and enjoy their mornings given the time difference.. live a “simpler life” with less stress I then explained.. almost waiting for him to reveal the joke.. that they can’t just “move to Europe” and drop their kids in school and get cheap healthcare. They need to be citizens or have visas… formally update their residency… be legitimately employed locally… not to mention legit docs for things like landlord approvals… the list went on. He wasn’t joking, apparently. This grown adult thought they could just “move to Europe” illegally… and he didn’t even think about the legality of it at all Apparently he’s a “doer” type guy who just makes things happen Good luck to him
