I’m told MTCC awarded a ~MVR 13 million “MaleTaxiApp” project to a company called FixedMaldives. Key concerns being raised: - No open bidding, only selected suppliers were invited - Fixed Maldives is a sole proprietorship registered in 2022, with no listed business names, activity permits, or relevant licenses - Their services don’t indicate app development capabilities - Portfolio shows experience in hardware, cameras, and networking: not software development - Project was reportedly due for completion in November, but app remains unfinished as of yesterday - Multiple payments have already been made This is something journalists should look into, to verify the facts, clarify the procurement process, and provide transparency on the project’s current status.

With that kind of money I expected them to at least go with a ready made white label solution but nooooo they tried to actually build it (horribly) from scratch? Sheeeeeesh

The app for "Malé Taxi" is still named "mtcc_taxi" with a default Flutter description, A 13M MVR App

Since @JAMIYYATHSALAF's #SalatMV app was pulled out from google playstore (still exists in apple store), you are only left with the option of Namaadhu app as a local prayer notification app. (Sadly this app also have not been updated for an year.) play.google.com/store/apps/det…

Update (confirmed) cc: @mqamaldives MI College Dean of Faculty of Science and Information Technology (FSIT), Prajol Mohandas (receives 30,000 MVR/month), has a fake masters. MQA rejected it. He then forged an MQA recognition document and submitted it to college (documents below). The Master’s programmes he claims to have completed spanned approximately 12 years, which is highly irregular and unacceptable for a postgraduate qualification. More troubling is the fact that the university named on the certificate does not offer the course stated on the document. MQA rejected the approval of his qualification on two clear grounds: 🔹He was employed as a full time staff member at MI College during the same period he claimed to be pursuing his studies. 🔹The university from which the certificate was issued does not offer the course mentioned. Following MQA’s rejection, instead of properly addressing these issues, a forged validation certificate was submitted to MI College. This document was accepted without due diligence and verification. No effort was made to confirm its authenticity with MQA nor was there any scrutiny regarding how approval was obtained after an official rejection.

More than 50 part time lecturers have gone unpaid at MI College for over 3 months. But Rector Lamya Abdul Hadhee receives full salary every month. Staff aren’t able to cover basic necessities like food, rent and daily expenses. Staff are exhausted, stressed and frustrated. Some lecturers have even begun refusing to mark papers and it’s hard to fault them when they’ve been treated with such disregard.

The Maldives parliament has passed the draconian media control bill, which seeks to muzzle dissent both online and offline on both traditional media and social media. We stand together in defiance against the takeover of the media by the executive branch. #CTRLBillBeyrukurey
