A highly collaborative effort between the #UnitedNations, Knowledge Foundation, DFINITY Foundation, University of Pretoria, Stellenbosch University and the National Institute for Theoretical and Computational Sciences (NITheCS) has come to fruition as the 2024 United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) #Coding4Integrity Hackathon in #Pretoria, South Africa, concludes: KnowledgeFound.org/hackathons After a day of inspiring opening talks, the weekend was dedicated to the coding competition where in-person and online participants tackled the challenge of enhancing and improving the code they received from our inaugural Coding4Integrity 2.0 hackathon at University of #Oxford. Coding4Integrity 2.0 challenges young developers to create AI learning environments for anti-corruption. The series features of 4 events annually, for which 2024 revolves around educational #AI & #DeComm (Decentralized Commerce). We began in Oxford a few months ago, and have come a long way in just two competitions. Finalists from our #Pretoria competition have been selected, and now have 2 weeks to "polish and perfect" their work as they compete for their share of $70,000 in #KnowledgeToken and professional #InternetComputer developer grants. Following a rigorous jurying process the winners will be announced, who then "take the baton" and continue to improve their code in order to hand it off to the next hackathon participants.
