🧐 since tanker freight rates has rocketed due to war.. somewhere 400 k/day. Bunker prices up, war risk insurance premium up > 300% So why seafarers only get double the basic wages.Maybe 400$ for a master rank .. why not share of the profit ,after all they are risking their life.

The Inauguration of the PRANAAM Seafarers Assistance Counter, organised by the Directorate General of Shipping, was successfully conducted on Wednesday, 21 January 2026, at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Terminal 1, Mumbai. The initiative is a significant step towards strengthening welfare, facilitation, and on-ground support for seafarers travelling through the airport. The programme began with the welcome of dignitaries, followed by the formal inauguration of the PRANAAM Seafarers Assistance Counter. A detailed presentation highlighted the objectives, scope, and services of the PRANAAM initiative, designed to provide guidance, grievance redressal, and facilitation support to seafarers at the airport. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Shri Sushil Mansingh Khopade, IPS, Additional Director General of Shipping, who addressed the gathering and emphasised the Directorate General of Shipping’s continued commitment to seafarer welfare and ease of access to essential services. The Guests of Honour, Shri Andrew Watt, Regional Manager – Home Office International Operations, British High Commission, and Shri Hitarth Mankodi, Chief Operating Officer, CSMIA, also shared their views on international coordination and airport-level facilitation for seafarers. A proud highlight of the ceremony was the Guard of Honour presented by SCI MTI, Powai – ANDA (Upper) candidates to the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour, reflecting high standards of discipline, professionalism, and maritime tradition. During the event, it was announced that, in addition to operations at Terminal 1, the PRANAAM Seafarers Assistance Counter will also commence services at Terminal 2 (T-2) of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. This expansion will further enhance accessibility and ensure wider coverage for seafarers travelling through both terminals. The programme concluded with the presentation of mementos, a vote of thanks, and interaction among dignitaries and stakeholders. The inauguration and upcoming expansion of the PRANAAM Seafarers Assistance Counter mark an important milestone in strengthening institutional support for the seafaring community #SeafarerWelfare #DGShipping #SeafarersSupport #MaritimeIndia #EaseOfDoingMaritime #SeafarerAssistance #CSMIA #MumbaiAirport #MaritimeCommunity

This is recent real maritime news. A deceased seafarer’s family nearly lost a ₹1.5 crore compensation due to email fraud during a P&I payment process. No fault of the seafarer or family. The company stepped in and paid again. Every seafarer must ensure their family knows about P&I compensation rights. Repost for awareness. ⚓

Dear @myntra, my Wonderchef Multi Cook Kettle (Order #131164739703452608403) still isn’t delivered — over 2 weeks late. Every single call ends with “please wait 2–3 business days.” I’ve been hearing that line for 10 days straight now. Complaint filed with @consaff.
