Virginia Democrats are pushing us one step closer to eliminating the intent and purpose of the electoral college. Allocating Virginia’s 13 votes for president to the winner of the national popular vote if this “compact” is ratified. Funny thing is - if this had existed in 2024 - Virginia’s 13 votes would have went to Trump. So would have California’s 52 votes and New York, Minnesota, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont - all of their votes. There would not have been one state in the country that would have given Harris a single electoral vote. Funny thought. Here’s something even more funny. States can’t do this without Congressional consent. It’s called the Compact Clause. All these Democrat states thinking they can usurp the Electoral College never read the constitution apparently. Par for the course for Virginia Democrats that just voted for this.
