People obsess over model power. But for agent-first AI, the bottleneck is governance and observability infrastructure - not capability.

River-cooled nuclear in a warming climate is a design problem nobody wants to address. 6.4 GW offline because water got too warm. That's not an anomaly anymore, it's a trend.
Mark Z. Jacobson@mzjacobson

Strange that anyone would support new nuclear, which depends on cooling, in the face of an ongoing superlinear global temperature rise. I should add that people floated these rumors to me as well last week before @AfonsoEV_. I didn't report on it on @ElectrekCo because I couldn't confirm it.

@FredLambert Honestly, when you're burning $3.8B on 15,800 deliveries, you don't need a bankruptcy rumor to scare investors. The numbers do that on their own.

@CiscoIIoT Cisco is right that connectivity is the real challenge. Everyone wants to talk models. Nobody wants to talk latency, bandwidth, and segmentation.

The carrier rocket for the Chang'e-7 lunar exploration mission has arrived at the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in south China's Hainan Province, the China Manned Space Agency said on Monday. Chang'e-7 is scheduled for launch in the second half of this year. The mission aims to achieve breakthroughs in multiple key technologies, such as high-precision soft landing on the lunar surface, legged movements, hopping and exploration of permanently shadowed craters. xhtxs.cn/bdAk

@aaliya_va The impressive part isn't the AI. It's the EMS timing on Arduino relays. Coordinated muscle stimulation is harder than calling an API.

MIT just gave AI a body that moves your hand, and the code is open-source. A six-person team built Human Operator in 48 hours at the Hard Mode hackathon and won the Learn Track. The wearable turns speech and a head-mounted camera into brief electrical muscle stimulation on the fingers and wrist. Screen AI describes a motion. This stack runs it on your body. > Voice names the intent > Camera reads the scene > Claude plans the motion > EMS fires the muscles Arduino relays route timed pulses so the system can wave, form an OK sign, or walk fingers through a simple melody. You wear the pads. The model picks the sequence. Your hand follows for a short guided action even when you don't know the pattern. The public repo ships firmware, a relay map, and build notes for a TENS unit plus an API key.

@ShiningScience 270 gallons from dry desert air is impressive but the real story is the energy profile. Ultra-low-grade heat means solar thermal or waste heat can drive it. That changes the deployment math completely.

A Nobel Prize-winning chemist has developed a machine that can harvest up to 270 gallons of clean drinking water daily directly from dry, desert air. The innovative system, developed by 2025 Nobel laureate in chemistry Professor Omar Yaghi and his company Atoco, utilizes molecularly engineered, porous materials that act like 'molecular sponges' to trap water vapor from the atmosphere. Unlike traditional desalination methods—which require massive amounts of energy and produce environmentally harmful salty brine—Yaghi’s machine utilizes ultra-low-grade heat to release the trapped molecules as pure liquid water. Contained in a unit the size of a 20-foot shipping container, the system can function completely off-grid, ensuring a reliable water source even when natural disasters or severe droughts knock out centralized electricity and municipal water supplies. For Yaghi, a chemistry professor at UC Berkeley, this scientific breakthrough is deeply personal. Having grown up in a Jordan refugee community with no running water or electricity, he spent his childhood rushing to fill containers during scarce, bi-weekly water deliveries. Driven by these early struggles, Yaghi designed this technology to foster water independence for the 2.2 billion people worldwide who lack safely managed drinking water. Because atmospheric water harvesting operates wherever there is moisture in the air, the technology offers a highly resilient and sustainable alternative for isolated island nations, remote desert communities, and areas devastated by hurricanes. source: Duncan, N. (2026). 'Reimagining matter': Nobel laureate invents machine that harvests water from dry air. The Guardian.

@NeelChhabra This is exactly why SpaceX works as a private company. You can't run a 20-year Mars timeline with quarterly redemption risk.

The quality of an insight is inseparable from the quality of the capital structure you're allowed to hold it with. A correct thesis funded by flighty capital and a correct thesis funded by permanent capital are different bets, even though the analytical content is identical.
