I didn’t vote for Donald Trump because I thought he was flawless. I voted because I thought he was the last off-ramp. The lesser of two evils… with a promise that actually meant something. No new wars. End the old ones. Put America First. That message hit hard. It felt like a reset. But look around now. Conflicts aren’t ending — they’re multiplying. Billions are still pouring overseas. Military support keeps expanding into places most Americans can’t even point to on a map. And back home? People are drowning quietly. Groceries cost more every week. Families are hanging on by a thread. Veterans — the ones who already gave everything — are still sleeping on the streets. Debt is crushing. Stress is everywhere. So I keep coming back to one question: What happened to America First? Because this doesn’t feel like it. This feels like the same machine… just repainted. I didn’t vote for global escalation. I didn’t vote to fund the world while Americans fall behind. I voted for peace abroad and stability at home. And right now? That promise feels further away than ever. This isn’t just disappointment anymore. People are starting to wake up.

@MisesChair @beinlibertarian Don’t forget the part where you say “it’s not a takeover,” vilify anyone who disagrees with you, accuse them of being a pedo/fed/marxist, bully people willing to work until they quit, excommunicate your own people when they don’t fall in line, then endorse Republicans anyway.

Trump did care about libertarianism actually.
Being Libertarian@beinlibertarian

@AP4Liberty By “align with Democrats” do you mean spending like them, bombing like them, or spying like them? Koolaid is currently being drunk by the gallons by people who think allegiance to Trump is healthy. Red-47 and all. Does Trump care about libertarianism?

Several years ago on this date, I received an unexpected call from a dear friend across the country who was crying. He explained that he'd been in a bad place for a few months, verging self-harming, and he just wanted to talk to someone. He's never called me without texting first. I was worried about him. So we talked. For about 4 hours. By the end of the call, I felt confident that he wasn't going to kill himself. Not that day, not the next... I think he got to a point where he no longer saw it as the best option. But I wouldn't get off the phone until I felt that way about his state of mind/emotions. In that call, we talked about his problems, and then we talked about how it's hard to see other people's problems with a lens like Facebook, and I told him some of my problems to help him see how things aren't always what they seem. He said that helped. We talked about things that drive us both a bit batty, and things we care about, and things we love, and stupid mundane crap that makes us want to punch something. And we laughed. And we told stories. And I validated him in the ways he was feeling ignored. And we hung up so he could go to bed, and he told me he was actually looking forward to the next day. I've been the recipient of a number of calls or messages like this. I've also been unaware in an interaction that I had accidentally become someone's reminder that life could still be good (I have a blog entry about it). If you ever get a call like this, sometimes people are good at spilling what's going on right away, and you just need to listen and ask the occasional questions. Sometimes they struggle with the words. I find this more often. Sometimes when you know that they need to talk but it's hard to get them to start, I start by asking about the right now. Where they are, are they sitting down, describe the room they're in, describe their roommates, describe their job... Help them paint pictures for you so you can be let into their world and solidify their connection to it and to you. To make it seem less lonely. These are tough calls, and emotionally draining, but they're important to take when it happens - I'm profoundly happy about certain people in my life that are still alive because I took a call like this. But it's also a good reminder, that you don't necessarily know where people are, emotionally, and we should all try to be kinder to each other in general. This isn't specific to this case mentioned above, but more and more I've watched activists and advocates and allies of important causes get piled on when they slip up, and I've watched them define their self-worth by their friendship in those spaces, a friendship that is often conditional on "how much work are you doing for the cause?", And I've watched how they end up distraught, drained, and even suicidal. It makes me recognize how often people need breaks, particularly from that kind of pressure. All this just leads me to: There are ways to help. Take time for people. Be patient. Be kind.

Jake has another excellent, detailed piece here. I want to mention something that I think some folks miss: davidmhart.com/liberty/Americ… What McArdle attempted is *literally* what the Paleo strategy is. It's a strategy intended to court the racist and bigoted elements of the Republican movement, as can be seen in the article linked above, to fundamentally change what "libertarian" means and to push that neoconservative/reactionary BS on all of us. This is why people talk about needing to remove Paleos: The idea isn't that the people are evil as individuals, but that they fundamentally want to tear down the Libertarian Party, so they must be stopped.

This is exactly what guys like John Boehner and Paul Ryan used to say. It was a false proposition then, and it’s false now. A member of Congress’s team should be the American people. It’s those they represent, not a political party or a man. And the partisans in Washington consistently work together against the interests of Americans everywhere. The war isn’t between Republicans and Democrats. It’s between those who love liberty and those who love power. MAGA, Inc., is just the same old political establishment—but now they use Trump as a shield for violating your rights and abandoning the Constitution.
Benny Johnson@bennyjohnson

I know the loudest politics accounts are new here. Your low effort idealistic takes are adorable. But let me give you a brutal dose of cold reality having done political commentary for 2 decades: Politics is a war zone Pick a team and fight Betray your team, lose This is war

I’ve said it before and I will say it again — Donald Trump was saved by G-d so he could save the world. Tonight, thanks to his leadership, the Republican Party did what the Democrat Party failed to do decades ago — said clearly and unambiguously that Jew Haters are not welcome in our party. It is no coincidence that on this same day, the leading Democrat in a swing district announced she would build concentration camps for American Jews. Our parties are not the same. Our leaders are not the same. America has big choices ahead and I believe we will do the right thing.

I have no problem dressing well for the convention. However, the motion proposed by Republican candidate Ben Weir: 1) Targets trans delegates, referencing biological sex 2) The LNC has no such authority. The LNC serves the Convention, not the other way around.

Emo Ben's latest motion is still out of order. The LNC has no authority to establish convention standing rules. The Bylaws specifically carve that out to the delegates. This is the typical do-nothing, clog-up-the-business-list nonsense that has pervaded this term. Far more offensive than any dress is that he blatantly violates his fiduciary duty by breaching the Bylaws requirement to not be a candidate of another party, and basic ethics say that if you are registered Republican you are not on the LNC. And FWIW I always wear suits. I am tempted this convention to just wear jeans as his insufferable prattling was uncomfortable enough.
