@TrueIndology All native faiths hv major holidays in their countries. A way 2 strengthen roots. Families n friends get together. Work comes to a halt. EiD in Middle East (7-10 days), Christmas in West (10 days), Chinese NY (2 weeks), even Navroze in Iran (10 days). But Diwali in India…?

In India, there is no public holiday for Rama Navami and Hanuman Jayanti. But there is public holiday for Good Friday and Ambedkar Jayanti. Why? Good Friday is not a federal holiday even in a Christian majority country like US. Why is it a public holiday in India when most Indians don't even observe it?
