Korean media have described the allegations against Morse Tan as defamation charges against President Lee Jae-myung, as well as charges of spreading false information, and have identified Tan as an “election-fraud conspiracy theorist.”
Lee Seong-il (No.3), chief of the Cyber Investigation Division at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, said the police requested that the Ministry of Justice impose a travel ban on Professor Morse Tan on charges of defamation through the publication of false information about Mr. Lee.
KBS News reported that Justice Minister Jeong Seong-ho(No.1) approved the request.
Professor Morse Tan entered South Korea on May 28, one day before the country’s early voting period, to carry out the activities of a “Korea-U.S. Joint Election Fraud Investigation Team.”
In response to police summons, Morse Tan submitted a written explanation for his absence, along with a request to recuse the investigation team recused.
On the same day, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Commissioner Park Jeong-bo(No.2) said, “We asked his side to appear when he entered the country, but he did not show up,” adding, “We will conduct the necessary investigation according to procedure.”
The defamation case involving Lee Jae-myung stems from a complaint filed over allegedly false remarks Morse Tan made at a June 2025 press conference in Washington, where he allegedly claimed that President Lee had been involved in violent crimes during his youth and had been sent to a juvenile detention center.
In essence, the claim was that Lee had been imprisoned in a juvenile facility for participating in a gang rape incident at Andong Dam while he was a minor.

@Rainmaker1973 It’s amazing that nature sometimes quietly holds the answers to the very problems we create.

Scientists have discovered that the fungus Aspergillus tubingensis, isolated from a landfill in Islamabad, Pakistan, can rapidly break down polyurethane, one of the world’s most durable plastics. This material is widely used in insulation, furniture, footwear, coatings, and synthetic leather, and it typically persists in the environment for hundreds of years.
In laboratory tests, the fungus colonizes the surface of polyurethane films, secreting enzymes that disrupt its chemical bonds. Scanning electron microscopy revealed clear signs of degradation, including cracks, pits, and surface erosion. Within just two months in liquid culture, the plastic films were broken down into smaller fragments, with near-complete degradation observed.
This represents the first reported case of A. tubingensis degrading polyurethane. The process is an example of mycoremediation, the use of fungi to clean up environmental pollutants. Other fungi have also shown the ability to use plastics as a primary food source, even in low-oxygen landfill conditions.
Researchers are now exploring the potential of fungal enzymes for large-scale applications, such as bioreactors, to help address the global plastic waste crisis. If scaled effectively, these biological approaches could offer a practical, low-cost method to reduce the billions of tons of persistent plastic accumulating worldwide.

Up until the early 1990s, raw salmon was almost never eaten in Japan, especially not in sushi.
Why?
Japanese Pacific salmon was (and still is) often heavily infested with parasites, so tradition dictated that salmon be cooked (grilled or salted). Raw salmon was considered unsafe and was not part of sushi culture.
In the 1980s, Norway faced a massive surplus of farmed Atlantic salmon and needed new markets. They launched a deliberate, long-term marketing campaign, often called "Project Japan", that lasted roughly a decade.
Norway sent trade delegations and held tasting events, worked with Japanese importers, restaurants, and sushi chefs, promoted the safety and quality of their parasite-free farmed Atlantic salmon and ultimately introduced it first to conveyor-belt (kaiten) sushi restaurants, where it was cheaper and more accessible.
The strategy worked incredibly well. By the mid-to-late 1990s, salmon had gone from virtually unknown in sushi to one of the most popular toppings in Japan. Today, salmon is often the #1 best-selling sushi item in the country, surpassing even tuna in many places.
It’s one of the most successful examples of how a targeted national marketing campaign can completely reshape a country’s culinary habits. Norway essentially created the global phenomenon of salmon sushi.

@parkjoohyeon79 The U.S. and South Korea share an unbreakable bond, and I hope for a future where freedom and democracy continue to thrive for all our friends in Korea.

We officially ask the United States for help in defending freedom of speech in South Korea.
Beginning in July, a revised Information and Communications Network Act is scheduled to take effect in South Korea. If this law is enforced as intended, the Korean people risk losing their freedom of expression.
Already, the legacy media, together with a National Assembly and the Lee Jae-myung regime that many Koreans believe were brought to power through election fraud influenced by the Chinese Communist Party, are moving forward like an out-of-control bulldozer. The process is disturbingly similar to how freedom disappeared in Hong Kong almost overnight.
Although former Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn's hunger strike and the resistance of many Korean citizens recently succeeded in preventing a constitutional amendment from being introduced, there remains a real possibility that constitutional changes leading South Korea toward a communist state could be pursued in the future.
The same police who reportedly pressured a former U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Global Criminal Justice into accompanying them, demanded that he submit to questioning, and sought a travel ban against him, can be expected to treat ordinary Korean citizens even more harshly. The implications are obvious.
The United States must help ensure that South Korea does not continue down the path of losing its freedoms.
American soldiers shed their blood to defend South Korea. We ask the United States to help the Republic of Korea, a nation bound to America by blood, sacrifice, and alliance.
Please do not allow one of your few friends in the world—a nation that was founded through prayer, faith, and a commitment to freedom—to become a communist country stripped of its liberties.
We urge the United States to take an active role in helping preserve freedom, democracy, and human rights in South Korea.
South Korea needs America's help.
