95 year old Samuel Wako Wambuzi born January 23, 1931, served three times as the Chief Justice of Uganda; from 1972 to 1975, 1979 to 1980 & 1986 to 2001. Sharp dresser, stands upright, & dances unaided. He must have been a just jurist. They don't make them anymore. God is kind.

Tourism: Uganda’s challenges beyond the gift of nature ~ @nsengoba On social media, you have loads of citizens who should be proudly marketing the country. Instead, they are complaining about it, complete with graphic support bit.ly/4v0XdJC #MonitorUpdates

On this Good Friday, we do more than commemorate a historical event, we reflect on a profound truth that resonates deeply with our struggle today. The crucifixion of Jesus Christ reminds us that decisions made against the innocent can leave an everlasting mark on the history of mankind. It is a somber reminder that true liberty often requires an ultimate price. In Uganda, our journey toward freedom has been paved with the sacrifice of our comrades. We honor those who have lost their lives, those who carry the physical scars of the struggle, and those who remain steadfast despite the cost. Their courage is the foundation upon which our future will be built. Let this day not be one of despair, but of renewed resolve. Just as the darkness of Friday precedes the light of hope, our current hardships under the junta will not be the end of our story. We must use this spirit of reflection to push harder for the change our country deserves. We will not be discouraged. We will not relent until the junta is ousted and every Ugandan breathes the air of true freedom. May the blessings of this season strengthen your spirit for the work ahead. #FreeKizzaBesigye #FreeHajjiObeid #FreeSamMugumya #FreeSamuelMakokha #FreedomForAll

104 years of life, grace, and history! 🎈 Today we celebrate Jjajja Norah Muyinda Namakula. Joining Budo in 1933 as a pioneer girl, she is a living testament to our rich heritage. During the Central Region Rotaract Officers Learning Seminar, I had a special photo moment with these two outstanding leaders who exemplified exceptional time management; Rtr. Elizabeth from @rctntinda and Rtr. Lwiza from @RHolyclub66160. Their discipline in timekeeping inspired me. Time is the currency of impact, when managed well, it multiplies our ability to serve

.@Kalinaki: As I leave the newsroom, it is my view that the Monitor's core role must shift from waiting on biology to trying to positively influence society and the inevitable looming change. It can, and should do that by imagining and platforming debate on the many scenarios by which the country can derisk the political transition. This was the opportunity that the Moshi Conference presented in 1979; we continue to pay the penalty for failing to seize it bit.ly/4ttefi5 #MonitorUpdates

Today I was in Kampala for Dr. Kizza Besigye's case scheduling. The prosecution has failed to fully disclose its evidence in total disobedience of a court order to do so. Instead, on the 11th of March 2026, they filed an application seeking permission to conceal the identity of one of their six witnesses and the court, in the absence of the defence, proceeded to fix this application for hearing today. We as the defence protested this preferential treatment of the prosecution. The court failed to account for the defence's right to peruse the application and to respond to it adequately. This is not a procedural technicality, it is a matter of fundamental fairness. An accused person must know the case against him and who his accuser is in order to prepare his defence. That is a right. We return to court on the 31st of March. Dr. Besigye is 69 years old and has been in remand for over 500 days, a period that has greatly compromised his health. The prosecution's unwarranted delays are punitive. And they will not go unchallenged. Aluta Continua. #FreeBesigye

It has been 465 days since Dr. Kizza Besigye was abducted from Nairobi. Today in Kampala, I appeared before Justice Dr. Emmanuel Baguma, as lead counsel for Dr. Kizza Besigye. It is disheartening to see how his health is deteriorating. To @Winnie_Byanyima your strength in the face of what your family is enduring is humbling. It steels my resolve. The struggle for democratic space anywhere on this continent is a collective responsibility, and I will continue to do my part to fight for people’s rights in Kenya and beyond.
