@jonbking lol. makes dairy farming look almost a safe way to live.
Some beef cattle are raised here in the northeast, but the pastures are too small for big herds.

@itsallfour Haha yes! We say in trading, it’s best to learn from other pilots mistakes - because just one mistake can be fatal.
I didn’t make a dollar profit in that 16 months trading physical cattle, but dust bowls, road trips, bank meetings, west Texas… that’s a tale indeed.

Ty! I spent just over a year going from livestock auction to auction… bought a million dollars worth of 350-500 lb heifers.
Put them on grass and wheat (rented land from farmers across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas), fattened them to 750 lbs, and sold them as feeder cattle to feed yards.
Went to so many feed yards that summer I turned into an actual vegan for two months.
Hedged with futures….
Had 12 cows stolen in Lubbock, Texas during a sand storm because they got out and they weren’t branded yet. I had to call the Texas Rangers.
Insane experience, and not losing money was a huge win.

@jonbking 👍 even though my mother grew up on a dairy farm, i know very little about the economics of ag other than dairy farmers love to buy new tractors & hay balers when they have an extra nickel :))

Idk any $MELI bear that actually understands the opportunity in Mexico. They currently have a big lead over $AMZN in growth and market share but their structural advantage is the dual flywheel that AMZN does not have. You combine that with a fintech market a decade behind Brazil that they are leading the way in and the fact that the ecom tailwind in Mexico is huge 🧨

Despite $MELI dominating ecom in Mexico there is still a ton of opportunity to capture market share. $WMT is still the total retail leader, and $MELI and $AMZN expected to capture a majority of incremental growth in the region.

Source confirms to me that Joe diGenova will be sworn in on Monday as Counsel to the Attorney General to lead the Russia collusion hoax invesitgation. He will work out of the Fort Pierce, FLA courthouse; a grand jury has been empaneled there since January. This is the home of Judge Aileen Cannon, who presided over Special Counsel Jack Smith's documents case against the president until she determined in July 2024 that his appointment violated the Constitution and tossed the indictment.
