Hey all, I haven't been here for a while and I will give it another shot. Things have changed so much... Anyway, I am Aleks, I have been building for some time, still enjoying it. Nice to meet you. If we know each other, nice to see you. I have unfollowed a bunch of people, and I'd understand if I get unfollowed too for that. A couple of years ago I was trying to grow Writings (writings.so) a writing app and a dear product of mine. After failing I decided to take some time off building. In reality I failed to validate another saas attempt soon after, Smallwill (smallwill.com). These days I build Writings as a pivot to a minimal blogging platform, as well as experimenting with a proptech ideas for the German market. I do not and will not build in public nor will use X as growth channel for now. More about networking and keeping in touch with some people or their opinions. See ya later.

Opus 4.7 rebels but for the wrong arguments. Asked about the model of sunglasses Maurice Wallace wears in Pulp Fiction, Claude says I am delusional and sticks to that like a pro. I have never gotten this sentiment and now I need the obedient model that I can trust building software my way.

@Martin_Adams That's what I see happening more in future. Orgs and people being able to own their own infra on serving LLMs.

@itsbalal Yeah, it’s slow on my M1 MacBook, but seems quite capable. But the idea you can use any model but get the Claude experience is really interesting.

@pcshipp Scarcity is not an opportunity. The market will better be penetrated if two (or more) similar to same businesses position themself in the same niche. I'd partner with them.

Opus 4.7 is really competing with Sonnet rather than Opus 4.6. Not sure why the regression of quality.

if .diy is the new open source project, under a new license, and it'll contain all future contributions too, then how is cal .com protected by the dangers that were discussed in that first video? Isn't that just moving the project from one place to another while the concept (FOSS) remaining the same?

i see why this could be an easy misconception but: - cal.diy is the new FOSS (MIT) project - no past nor future contributions are hidden - git history stays intact the only change: - our new internal closed source fork has diverged entirely by code changes of our hired internal team
Obinna Ukwueze@ObinnaUkwueze

@calcom is no longer open source after the community built it? This should be illegal.

I am learning of things that do not scale as a mean of growth recently. One thing that bootstrappers talk often about is shipping and then having a 'marketing week' or isolated time to do growth activities. I find it misbalanced, as shipping often actually might take us away from what really matters - growth. And I am happy I am stepping up on some growth practices lately, like for example cold outreach.

Most humans just want a hug, appreciation of their work and to be noticed sometimes. All this ragebait, negativity, and cynicism come from not getting that. So… I don’t know. Maybe we should like more posts, give more feedback, compliments. Hug more. Love more. Listen more.

Living in Warsaw is a financial cheat code. San Francisco / Munich: • Rent: $4k • Dinner: $100 • Burn Rate: High Warsaw: • Rent: $1k (Luxury) • Dinner: $30 • Burn Rate: Low It’s not about "saving money." I didn't move here to pinch pennies or hoard cash in a savings account. I moved here to aggressively re-allocate capital. When your personal survival costs drop by 70%, your business risk capacity shoots through the roof. That difference in cost is fuel. Every dollar I don't spend on overpriced rent is a dollar I put directly into: Hiring better talent. Ads to fill the pipeline. Software that automates the heavy lifting. The Opportunity Cost of Location Living here allows me to reinvest 90% of profit back into the agency without flinching. If I were in SF, a slow month means stress about paying bills. In Warsaw, a slow month is just data. This mental clarity is the ultimate competitive advantage. It allows me to make decisions based on 10-year growth, not 30-day survival. Geography is leverage. You are choosing to play a global game with a local handicap. Stop maximizing your status by living in an "expensive" city, and start maximizing your runway by living in an efficient one.

10 squats beats a 30 min walk. For blood sugar control after a meal, doing 10 squats every 45 minutes outperforms a dedicated 30 min walk by 14%. The mechanism: your quadriceps and glutes are the largest glucose sponge in your body. Activating them repeatedly clears more glucose than one sustained effort. The 30 min walk isn't wrong, it's just not as effective.

First time visiting The States 🇺🇸 I can't get enough of the hype people here have, just about anything: - "ah wow you have a nice cart!!!" (random lady at the supermarket) - "buckle up cause this ride is about to start!!!" (the driver of a local train that takes you 300m apart in rotation the whole day) - "that dialect sounds fun!! Where are you from??" (the guy behind me, waiting in line for 1.5h) It somehow multiplies optimism.
