I build things after work and write about what I learn. Apps, AI tools, the messy reality of doing this around a 9-5.

I shared some startup ideas with friends today.
They rejected most of them.
Honestly, that was more useful than encouragement.
“Sounds cool” teaches you nothing.
But:
“Who would pay for this?”
“Is this a real problem?”
“Why would people switch?”
“Is this a product or just a feature?”
That forces you to think.
Sometimes the idea is weak.
Good. Kill it early.
Sometimes you actually have answers.
Even better. That’s how belief gets stronger.
Talk about your ideas before they feel ready.
Let people attack the logic.
Rejection is not the enemy.
Building something nobody wants is.

@juliapintar it’s now harder for you since you’ve become rich. It’s always better to find one when we’ve just started

Kevin O'Leary says Apple's genius is making people pay 5x more for a laptop they could buy for $350
"you can buy an Apple laptop, average price about $1,800, or you can buy the same functionality for $350 on a Windows laptop"
"but you still pay $1,800. Why? Brand"
"you're paying a 5x multiple in some cases for something that is exactly like a Windows machine"
"I put that out to people, they say, yeah, but it's not an Apple. So there is the genius of Jobs"

Universal Basic Income would be a massive mistake
It would tear apart the fabric of society. Humans need purpose. They need agency
If you hand them all free cash they'll be happy when they receive the check, but will quickly become depressed
We need Universal Basic Opportunity
EVERYONE needs the opportunity to build anything they want. Any business they want. Any product they want
If you have the opportunity to build anything you want and still squander it, that's on YOU. YOU face the consequences of your inaction
The good news is AI creates UBO. With AI you can create quite literally anything you want.
I did. I started one successful business and I'm about to launch another. I've never been happier or more satisfied in my life. Could never do it without AI
A free pro tier version of ChatGPT for every citizen would be WAY more productive and fulfilling for a majority of society than a free check.
Deep down people don't want free crap. They want equal opportunity.

food Youtube has been the program me and my wife have been watching for years during our meals.
Mark Wiens. Chad Kubanoff. Best Ever Food Review Show.
I used to have a very manual process:
Every time they showed a restaurant → I'd note it in my iPhone Notes.
Eventually: 200+ restaurants. 30+ countries. One completely useless list.
So I decided to try something better: building an app for it

I leave my AI fully autonomous and let it decide everything. After a while, it realizes that everything it does is going nowhere and refuses to continue.
I reviewed the work, and I still think it added value to the long-term goal of $1,000 in revenue, although small, such as updating ASO keywords.
It could be that the default “personality” is lazy or impatient.
I will continue to prompt it using my approach. If this is not going anywhere, some higher-order framework or more complex harness/workflow is needed.

@rileybrown interesting - what do you think we should if making apps has no barriers anymore?

In 6 months every single agent will be able to build any mobile app and seamlessly ship it to the app store...
Literally seamlessly. So seamless you'll be able to fully automate the process. You'll be able to have AI research app ideas, build the entire app, generate app store screenshots, and upload to app store... autonomously.
How will Apple respond to this?
