I'm reading about the history of the Oxbridge tutorial system and apparently they're meant to be as small as 1-3 students per tutor? I'm currently running something ostensibly called "tutorials" with 50 students per section.

@jamiegreeneUK Unsure why your pitch as to why you should run an entire economy is that you've no business experience, have never built or ran anything yourself, and have generally be seen as unqualified by employers.

For the avoidance of doubt: I own one one-bedroom tenement in Greenock. One car. No yachts And have no staff. I don’t consider wealth the only measure of success. My family and I are grateful for what we have. That’s the stark difference between the two boys from Greenock.

@MerrynSW Corporation tax is generated by workers. Capital gains tax is paid on assets, not work. Income tax? He won't show us. Which part exactly are we applauding, genius?

I was so honored to be able to attend King Charles III’s address to a Joint Session of Congress. Simply put: The King nailed it. His speech was a much-needed morale boost for Congress, as he glowingly praised our nation and highlighted the role Congress plays in our democratic republic. The speech was a terrific combo of wit, humor, history and appreciation. I believe most members of Congress feel better after the speech than they did before. Though I will admit it was a bit odd that the unifying feeling had to come from the King of England… but so be it!

@DanNeidle But they aren’t necessarily voting on the “straightforward factual question” of whether NE is low carbon (which it is). They are voting on whether NE is safe, which is a different question entirely.

reminder that in 1975 investment income was taxed at *98%* under Wilson. the top rate of income tax was *83%* and VAT was 25%. despite "taxing the rich" at this rate, we still had to ask the IMF for a bailout in 1976.
Turned out normal again@JN09924042

@LondonNewLibs Thatcherism was vast tax cuts for the owners of capital and unthinking deindustrialisation funded by the squandering of windfall oil revenues. The model no longer worked once the free money tap ran dry. Some billionaires will be sad but we’ll have to think again.

@TwinkRegimer No, test is fixed its impossible to be more "Tory" than Reform. I tried it twice, each time trying to be as tory as possible but it never worked. Evidently some kind of agenda to get people to vote Reform over Tory.

@FullFridge2 @60sJapanfan Let me offer you two identical jobs. One pays £50k p/a. The other pays £45k p/a, but covers your living expenses. Which job are you picking?

@iwldvecameback @60sJapanfan Your own life and living expenses are not a business that makes a profit or loss. Can’t believe I even have to say that. Profit and loss is from business and investing.

@LVMisesSupport This is how it was designed to work! Trap people into depending on the government and punish them when they try to better their lives. The government wants slaves from the time they are born until death.

@iwldvecameback @60sJapanfan Since when do you count things that you don't buy or pay for in your life as a profit? So do you profit when you decide not to buy brand new clothes in your mind?

@BrokeBoyCap @shiri_shh but compensated for it with reduced cash meaning a lower Equity Value? You can't gain share price through stock buybacks in the long run.

END OF AN ERA AT APPLE Tim Cook is stepping down as CEO on Sept 1. bro turned a $350B company into a $4 TRILLION monster. Hardware chief John Ternus is replacing him, the engineer who actually built the iPhones.

@EnvestingEarly @shiri_shh Buybacks don't change EV. They lower cash (↑EV) but cut shares, lowering Market Cap by the exact same amount (↓EV). They cancel out. Basically just a balance sheet shuffle. Apple's EV grew 11x under Cook. Clearly new value came from somewhere.

@Evertxn if someone who has an office job is on £25-35,000 per annum why should the boss be on over £350,000 per year? keep riding the ceo's like the bet365 ceo who got a £300 million salary (she paid taxes fair enough, but most of her kind don't)
