@KimballCall @KTMartin25 On the balance beam we are called to walk on — with upholding standards on one side and not being cruel to people that don’t meet the standard on the other— the left consistently doesn’t comprehend that there’s a balancing act at all. They prefer to abolish the standard, always.

It’s troubling how some progressive Latter-day Saints weaponize peacemaking rhetoric against normal members who try to maintain the same standards we’ve had for 200 years. And by doing so, they feel justified to stir up more contention than anyone else. The fragility mindset becomes their weapon too. It creates a victim class they feel they need to defend, which allows them to justify the contention they create. It goes like this: 1. Normal members reiterate long-held standards (such as young men should try to dress their best when passing the sacrament) 2. Fragile-minded individuals claim these standards victimize them and infer much more malice in the standards than was ever intended. 3. Progressive members accuse normal members of being “unchristlike,” mean, and “Pharisees.” They begin treating normal members with contempt from a place of moral superiority, claiming they are the “peacemakers” since they’re on the side of the oppressed, yet their behavior is often far more contentious. 4. Normal members are pressured to either lower their standards or must issue an appendix with every exception and “what if” whenever they reiterate a standard. This all results in a culture where fragile-minded people and their progressive allies can wield the same kind of power the Pharisees of old once had—dictating the new morality and shaming those who don’t conform.

If the leaders of our church taught that you could be an atheist and fully in good standing with the church I would say they are wrong because I am not a blind brainless moron. Luckily they have never said that. Marxism is an explicitly atheist philosophy.

@KimballCall @KTMartin25 Plus, we’re living in a world where having any ideals at all is considered hateful and judgey. Simply living your faith will be controversial to the wicked. And talking about it? Well that’s beyond the pale (See how King Noah reacts to Abinadi).

I hate to break it to you guys, but you can’t be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints without being controversial. And all missionaries do all day everyday is be confrontational. So ……

@xwanyex I haven’t felt that way. I’ve assumed that because they can recline, then it is totally fine to recline them. And I don’t get very bothered when someone reclines onto me. BUT, I don’t feel accused. Rather, I’m considering whether I should be more considerate in the future.

As with so many things, people just assume that a complaint is always just a complaint, that the speaker feels aggrieved, and that it’s entirely about their own sense that they’ve been wronged. But speaking only for myself, my sense of what other people should do, what other people are obligated to do, what I am annoyed by, starts with the obligations I feel within myself. If I did not personally, individually first feel like maybe I was doing something wrong whenever I recline my seat into someone else’s space, if that didn’t make me feel just slightly selfish, if that didn’t make me feel like maybe I wasn’t being very considerate, then it would never occur to me to complain when somebody else did it. It is entirely a function of what the action feels like when I do it, and only secondarily what it feels like when it is done to me. Obviously, what follows from this is that most of the people who think I’m crazy to complain about this *do not feel similarly when they recline*. And part of the reason they get so angry in response, obviously, is that saying this directly feels sort of like an accusation.

Today @sltrib ran an article about plans to create a memorial for Charlie Kirk at @UVU. They spent 6 paragraphs explaining numerous perspectives on why there shouldn't be a memorial, while giving two brief sentences to a single student in favor without letting her explain why. They continued the custom of leftist legacy media taking Charlie Kirk's words out of context. And they interviewed the student president of SDS, a group we recently exposed as a central culprit in spreading violent extremist rhetoric on campus, the same group who led an aggressive campaign earlier this year to cancel Dave's Hot Chicken for helping TPUSA's UVU chapter fundraise. Just in case you needed a reminder that the Salt Lake Tribune is a propaganda outlet for radical progressives.

I largely agree with @glennbeck on this. I think we need to stand up for ourselves but in the current world Creedal Christian’s are not the biggest threat to our faith. And on most major issues they are our allies.

@VVenerabilis Crazy cuz this has been true probably since the 1950s. Secular liberalism has always had a rotten communist core that was going to explode onto the scene in ugly fashion. Faithful LDS should have and did recognize it then. It’s impossible not to recognize it now.

The undeniable reality of our political situation. You cannot be a faithful LDS member and vote Democrat. You just can't do it. We are in Matthew 6:24 "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." The Democrat party is *fundamentally* opposed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

My only real contribution to the Mormon discourse is this story years ago I worked with a Mormon guy who came back from a few days off because his wife had a child I asked what they named the lad him: "Hinckley" me: "like the guy who shot Reagan?" Him: "wait, what" and that's how we each learned the name of a famous Hinckley that day

He hijacked Fast and Testimony meeting to grandstand. He accused his congregation of “being okay” with racism. He recorded himself doing this and uploaded it to Instagram. (That’s against the handbook, BTW.) And this guy is the President of an official Church organization.

I doubt Jordan Peterson knows very much about Mormonism. But few people have done more to strengthen my faith in the Restored Gospel than that man. Sometimes I’m listening to him, making all of these crazy connections to LDS doctrine and stuff, and I’m like, “Man, if he could just get the right person in the room to explain our beliefs to him at a deeper level, he would absolutely love it.”

Several years ago, @congressdj decided he needed a Tesla. I was against it because I thought they were pretentious. Plus, I didn’t think electric cars would work because that’s what the media always said. But as is his way, he went ahead and got one anyway. He showed me how to drive it, and I have to admit it was pretty nice. But I still preferred my Honda. Over time, though, I started to see how much money we were saving on gas (he drives a lot!). So, I stopped rolling my eyes and just let him enjoy it. 😝 A few years later, he came to me with this crazy idea that we should get a used one for our 16-year-old son. I was completely opposed to it. I thought it was a bit much. We looked at the budget and he agreed to check out some used Honda Civics. What we found was that they were ridiculously overpriced and would still require gas, oil changes, brake changes, and all the rest. Then he found a used Tesla lease for $200 a month. We had to admit that was a steal. Teslas are one of the safest cars you can buy. I never doubted that. But when my husband showed me all the features we could enable to limit aggressive driving, track habits, and save money, it just made too much sense. So we got it for him (he’s working it off in various ways). With all these Teslas, my husband is naturally trying to push me into one. I’m not there yet, and not because I hate them, but because @Tesla does not make an SUV big enough for a family of 6. And I’m just talking about seat count. We rented a Model X for the family while in Hawaii over Christmas. Yes, it fit the whole family, but it did not fit our bags. Six carry-ons and a big suitcase meant I had to take a minivan cab to the hotel while my husband picked up the car. It was great for driving around the island but not for the logistics of traveling as a family. So until @elonmusk announces a car that can transport everything my Honda Pilot can, I’ll have to drive what my husband calls my tractor a little longer. Finally, I want to say something about Tesla’s Full Self-Driving. I watched it when my husband used it a few years ago, and it sucked. He liked it, but I would never dare use it. I didn’t trust it. What I see now on his 2026 Tesla is nothing short of incredible. He literally doesn’t touch the wheel anymore. He leans his seat back like some kind of gangsta and just lets it drive itself. The biggest and final thing I’ll say: With the self-driving (which has made me fear for my husband less since he no longer drives aggressively) and the other safety features Tesla is renowned for, I completely trust it to carry my kids around. And as a protective mama bear, that means a lot! PS - No we don’t have a Cybertruck. My husband insisted on taking that picture with a loaner he had, once. 🤦‍♀️ 😂

@LukeFHan @RealTStevenson I also really dislike the over exaggeration and hyper sensitivity to it all. It is extremely left coded and unbecoming of pragmatic faith filled individuals. Let’s defend the faith while appreciating all the good our allies at the DW have done. God will use this for good.

Let's lighten up on the persecution complex a tad. Jacob Hansen spent almost an entire debate talking about how the Pope falsely claims to be the successor of Peter. Catholics rightly did not accuse him of hating Catholics. Now apply this same reasoning to people who publicly say they think Joseph Smith is a false prophet. See the problem? I'm not saying don't go after Matt Fradd or others. I'm saying go after them for the right reason. Labeling it hate is the lazy and inaccurate way to respond and it feeds the narrative that Latter-day Saints have a persecution complex. I am wrapping up an >3500-word script for a response video to Matt. I'm probably putting more effort into debunking his Joseph Smith article this than the rest of X combined. So by all means disagree with me, just don't accuse me of going soft on people I like without explaining yourself.
