There was a 2016 plan to upgrade the boardwalk to withstand high tide. NIMBYs blocked it using CEQA. This is the problem with California regs — our system favors “do nothing” as if that’s always better than any change. False for industry, false for housing, false for energy.

@zbowling I wrote a thing for a summer camp I used to go to in PHP back in 2004. 20 years later, still works, still runs. I think I’ve spent 2 hours total on maintenance on it over 20 years. Say what you will about PHP, but 20 years!

@AlyssaM_InfoSec Honestly, it’s likely a rescue. If during the course of the day, a driver realizes they won’t be able to make all their deliveries, there are often standby or under utilized drivers that can “rescue” and pick up packages from another driver to make sure everything is delivered.

@philboutelle @RyanMeckel Because this requires a general plan amendment the city council has full discretion to deny this project. The public can already be heard and express our opinions at City council, and if we don’t like the outcome, we can put it on the ballot anyways! M is totally unnecessary.

@AntonioLosadaM @RyanMeckel The general plan is amended multiple times a year, for many reasons. Nobody thinks a vote should be required each time. Measure M was written to block housing, not to respect or protect the sanctity of general plan rules and regulations, or provide environmental protection
