My late father arrived in the US from South Korea by way of SeaTac in Seattle, Washington. He was just 19 years old. As I stand here now in that same city, I think about how scared he must have been in a new country with no family and no friends. He could barely speak English and he only had $2.43 in his pocket. He came here for a better life that only America could offer… My father went on to get a PhD in Engineering, was happily married to my amazing mom for 48+ years; and had 2 children and 2 grandchildren. His life was the epitome of the American Dream. Thanks, Daddy, for having the courage to uproot yourself from the comfort of your home country and to brave an often-unkind new world. Your sacrificed so that ultimately our family could thrive and succeed. I love and miss you so much. ♥️
