I am moving over to the blue place. If you wonder why, find a post by Ed Milliband or Greg Jackson, have a look at the blue tick replies they receive. It is impossible to have a sensible discussion about anything. @jasmic.bsky.social #Bluesky

@boot15_vu @g__j @MartinSLewis This is why Greg Jackson is CEO of the most successful energy supply company in the UK that is growing on a global market and you aren't. No, they don't. The blades can rotate out of the main wind direction to reduce blade speed.

@g__j @MartinSLewis Wind farms are automatically shut down when it’s “too windy”. You don’t seem to mention this! Guess what wind farms don’t produce when there’s no wind 🥴

Today's Poll: Is it time to end regional energy prices? Ofgem say the reason some areas eg Scotland, North Eng, pay higher charges is due to higher distribution costs (eg more miles of cables per home). So is that fair, or should price be same regardless of location?

@Goatmasterfunk @sarah_go_green @ofgem It isn't the farce of wind, it is the farce of the entire energy supply and production industry and the legacy of decades of supporting fossil fuel companies. They are the ones who have the power when it comes to lobby groups.

@sarah_go_green @ofgem Sadly that’s the farce of wind. We have 30gW of theoretical capacity yet even in Bert and Darragh, were only using 20gW. I’m pleased some of the renewables advocates are waking up to the farce & realising why our ⚡️is the most expensive in Europe.

We think of ourselves as a modern progressive society yet we will pay companies to turn off wind turbines rather than sell the energy they are production on a very windy day cheaper. I read an article yesterday about @ofgem announcement on standing charge free tariffs and just couldn't work out for the life of me where the other half of the article was that raised curtailment.

@PolitlcsUK Oh, well, that's the straw, innit. Definitely need a GE now. I mean, nothing like renovating a moat or heating up your stables to keep the Horsies nice and warm, but enough is enough! £371? The bloomin' cheek.

@MozPerkins 100%. Genuinely funny with most of his comedy being seated in reality. I went to Cairns and those jugs of vinegar exist. Made it even funnier. Bloody good musician as well.

@jas_mic @peterjukes I know, right!? A French family who are good friends living in London said their daughter was told she wasn't entitled a say even though she was born in England & only ever had UK passport. Sounded totally English, but with French surname. Meanwhile Boris Johnson? Born in USA.

@drewsnx @peterjukes Really? I was living in Germany during the Brexit campaign and I was told many a time to shut up I had no say in what happened. Apparently you could be working for the British Army and still be a traitor. Now you are telling me I was actually still a patriot? Well I never.

@StonelawLtd @g__j Oh dear. I just looked at Peters timeline. It is worse than I thought. He thinks that it is Labour (Not Reform or the Tory's) who want to leave the ECHR, and doesn't care that animals died in the war because Poppies are RED! Not purple or any other colour.

@StonelawLtd @g__j It's OK, thick people can't work out that it costs less to heat an electric blanket than it does to heat an entire house. Still, it's not Peter's fault he is thick. Probably.

“Energy company gives 65000 electric blankets to vulnerable customers” as retold in a telegraph headline. I didn’t say “buy one if you can’t afford heating”. I did plea for market reform to cut energy costs for everyone but that’s just a bit too grown up telegraph.co.uk/business/2024/…

@stendec6 @JimHigham @g__j The one I am on - Octopus Agile. For anyone. Having a battery helps, but isn't necessary. For people willing to put their washing machine on overnight and avoid peak period energy use. Called Agile because it takes effort, the others don't. octopus.energy/smart/agile/

@jas_mic @JimHigham @g__j Show me a link to one. (BTW merely having them available is beside the point if profligate users are still free to choose regressive tariffs. What's needed is an end to the regressive ones.)

@stendec6 @JimHigham @g__j So in your mind what is a regressive tariff? It can't be 'expensive' as that historically is a recent phenomenon. It can't be fixed, as we have had those for as long as I can remember. And why would someone 'profligate' choose a 'regressive' tariff?

@stendec6 @JimHigham @g__j You do like the word 'profligate'. I am interested in what you think a profligate user is. If someone pays their electricity bill they are allowed to use as much energy as they want without restriction.
