People say NFTs are dead. But the real issue was never NFTs themselves, it was the infrastructure they were forced to run on. High gas fees drained profits, network congestion slowed trades, and scattered marketplaces made the whole experience exhausting. Fix the infrastructure and you fix NFTs. The confusion comes from applying the Ethereum account model to a Bitcoin covenant system.
In Ethereum, a contract executes arbitrary state transitions when authorized by a signature.
The user must trust the contract logic.
PRECOP operates under a completely different model.
A signature does not authorize arbitrary execution.
It only proposes a candidate state transition.
The transition is validated by Simplicity covenants embedded in a Taproot MAST, which enforce deterministic constraints on the transaction structure.
These constraints verify:
• the collateralization invariant
• the structure of outputs
• the allowed state transitions
For example, if a user attempts to redirect funds to an unauthorized output, Simplicity introspection primitives (such as output script hash checks) invalidate the transaction path.
Similarly, if a mint violates the 150% collateral ratio, the invariant fails through deterministic arithmetic checks.
The oracle does not execute contract logic.
It only provides authenticated price data of the form:
Price || Height
This signed value becomes an input to the covenant verification.
Execution remains entirely deterministic and enforced by the UTXO covenant itself.
In other words:
PoW-secured oracle layer
deterministic covenant execution
Users propose transactions.
Oracles attest to external state.
Covenants enforce the rules.
No discretionary execution is involved.
