@fredbauerblog The filibuster is an accountability sink (h/t @dsquareddigest). It serves to shield cowardly electeds from the consequences of their votes. Eliminating it would allow voters to experience true democratic responsiveness - rather than voting for one thing and getting another.

The Founders might not have intended it this way, but, institutionally, the filibuster is one of the principal bulwarks of federalism, which is essential for defusing political conflict. Nuke the filibuster--->allow 50.1% majorities to implement no-limits agenda.

@kevinweil Curious what kinds of prompts you're running that plausibly go on for an hour without stopping? When using Codex, Claude Code, etc. I'm usually not getting more than a few mins of autonomous work before it needs something from me.

I've gotten to the point where if I'm sitting in a meeting and I don't have a Codex prompt running, I feel anxious for "wasting" an hour I could have been making parallel progress. It's happened super quickly and totally changed how I think.

Because a bad president misuses state power we should not use it when we have a good president? And that’s before you get into the mechanics to change the parameters to use state power are unlikely to change.

wild how Ezra Klein has been viewed, correctly, as a pretty left wing figure his entire career, and then immediately gets labeled as some zealous right winger because he wrote a book saying we should make it easier to build housing and we should run socially moderate candidates in red states

@ArmandDoma @patrickstayer @rcon14 yes, i'm the lazy one for writing a substantive critique of the book with lengthy examples of where its thesis (to the extent it has one) falls apart. i guess i always could have just written "i have no patience left for it."
