My fellow dudes on x, I need to ask you a favor. My wife has discovered a new hobby, landscaping. We've spent $2,000 on plants, dirt, bark over the last 2 weeks. I'm sunburned, and out of ibuprofen I need this post go viral so I can pay for all this. Why couldn't she have chosen sourdough bread? Or crochet? Or triathlons?

I loved this little NIL-related nugget from Jay Drew’s article on LJ Martin at the Deseret News. LJ was clearly made for BYU…

Fun full circle moment. Years ago my wife was taught the gospel of Jesus Christ by a wonderful sister missionary from Japan. Yesterday we picked up her son & his companion at the airport & drove them to the MTC. He'll be serving in the same mission as his mom. #TenderMercies

I was lucky enough to be coached by Eli in high school. He’s as kind & gracious a human being as you will find. I asked him point-blank if he regretted his decision to not pursue the NFL & the sincerity in his voice saying that he never regretted it told me all I needed to know.

POWERFUL: Former 6-foot-8 BYU standout Eli Herring REFUSED to play in the #NFL because he would not work on Sundays due to his religious beliefs. Before the draft, Herring told teams not to select him, making it clear he would not play because of his beliefs surrounding the Sabbath. The #Raiders still drafted him in the 6th round, but Herring stayed true to his faith and never played a single snap in the NFL. Herring says he has no regrets, despite believing he had the talent to become one of the league’s best. Eli is now married with seven children and works as a school teacher and assistant football coach in Utah.

Tomorrow I finish laying the final strips on the bottom of the 18ft cedar strip kayak I'm building in my garage. I can't wait to see her colors come to life after sanding and fiberglass.

@j_divis I saw your tween and the thumbnail with a missionary and I thought, 'These are always sweet.' so I watched it. Cool doesn't give it enough credit. It was moving. That still doesn't say enough! Thanks for posting.

@jbbarrus Yeah, I believe so. My grandpa changed it back for my family, but he was originally a Barrus, and we had an ancestor who was Barrowes. So we’re likely distant cousins.

Made it to Tahiti. No matter where I am in the world, if I find an LDS temple, I know I can always find peace. And family - the Tahitians here were so nice and welcoming. Btw, you don’t have to be a member of our faith to walk the grounds of these temples.

@jesse_k_fox @BeardedLion2 All we can do is love and trust. If I turn them away, how can I hope to influence them? I still feel occasional doubts about the efficacy of my parenting, but I know that for any parent, it’s not really about that. It is about trusting Christ and relying on Him.

@jesse_k_fox @BeardedLion2 I’m happy for you. Our 3 oldest children haven’t officially left, but they’ve quit living the gospel. It is truly a relentless effort. It requires a parent to turn their child fully over to the Savior’s care. We still don’t know how this will turn out.

When our daughter left the Church, instead of being upset or sad for her, our family chose to Endure with Charity. This was not easy. It was a relentless effort on our behalf. A labor of long-suffering and love. After 5 years of being away she was rebaptized into the Church and now this summer she will be sealed to an eternal companion. The process was transformative in every sense of the word. The Gospel of Jesus Christ became more alive than ever before. Truly, Christ is the Rescuer and will bring God’s children home. We are the stewards asked to wait with patience and keep the lower lights burning.
David A. Bednar@BednarDavidA

Enduring to the end is not merely a relentless determination to grit our teeth, hold on to the limits of our physical strength and mental capacity, and push through the challenges and adversities of mortal life; it is so much more than that. Enduring to the end is linked inextricably to the spiritual gift of charity, or the pure love of Christ. As we are blessed to receive this supernal gift, a transformation occurs in our spiritual nature and character. Charity encompasses both what we do and what we can become as this spiritual gift ultimately possesses us. As we follow, love, and serve the Savior, we gradually focus less on our own desires and interests, and more on understanding and addressing the needs of others. We do not merely perform benevolent deeds; rather, our state of being is changed and becomes increasingly Christlike. Charity, then, ultimately possesses us. The scriptural phrase “endure to the end” is a repeated reminder of the mighty spiritual change in our hearts that should be ongoing throughout our lives; it also is His promise of what we may become if we truly are possessed of the pure love of Christ. #GeneralConference

So you were punished and paper membership was torn up until you got it together. I say paper because you were still in their database. Which I believe it is just one data base with everyone ever in it(?) What is the process for the repatism? What is said during the process? I find that interesting.

I didn’t grow up in the church, I converted in 2014. I went inactive for years and went as far as removing church records in 2025. Thanks to repentance through the atonement of Jesus Christ, I was rebaptized last year… and guess what happened today….. Just finished being endowed and sealed as a family. I leave knowing my redeemer lives. He lives! Today, all glory to our savior and head of His church Jesus Christ— Carol and I were endowed and then sealed together in the temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If God can change me, he can change you. Trust Christ, repent, and take up your cross and follow Him. I was an unbeliever for many years and inactive in the church. I was rebaptized last year, April 2014, so this is huge proof that if God can change a hard heated man like me into someone that is worthy to enter His holy temple… then imagine how much he could do for you. Carol and I were already married in 2014, but it was a civil wedding in a church chapel. “Til death do you part.” But marriage is at the very heart of the gospel and it’s not meant to just end at death. Your family can last forever even in the heavens through ordinances in the Lord’s holy temples. For those who aren’t familiar: •The endowment is a sacred ceremony where we make covenants with God and learn more deeply about His plan for us. It’s a time to draw closer to Him and to gain spiritual strength and understanding. •Sealing is a beautiful ordinance that unites families not just for this life, but for eternity. When you’re married in a regular church chapel, it always ends with “til death do you part.” In the temple, marriages are performed by priesthood authority “for time and all eternity,” rather than “till death do you part.” What is sealed on earth through proper priesthood authority, is sealed in Heaven. We believe that through these temple covenants and ordinances, our relationships — husband, wife, and children — can continue beyond this mortal life. Knowing that our family bond can last forever brings us a deep sense of peace, joy, and purpose. We’re incredibly grateful for the blessings and hope that come from the temple, and for the love that connects our family both here on earth and throughout eternity. ❤️ "And they were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God" Luke 24:53 (New Testament) “Behold, I give unto you power, that whatsoever ye shall seal on earth shall be sealed in heaven; and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven; and thus shall ye have power among this people” Helaman 10:7 (Book of Mormon) #LDSx

For those who keep telling me I should get to know "the real Jesus," you can rest assured that I am not ignorant. Before I converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I was a Presbyterian, educated in Christian Ministry at a Presbyterian college, served on the Christian Education committee, and worked as a youth leader. But more importantly, I know Jesus Christ as revealed to me by the Holy Spirit. I know Jesus Christ through lived experiences with his disciples, including Latter-day Saints, who bear good fruits in his name. There is only one Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the same Christ who was with the Father in the beginning of creation, who was foretold by the prophets of old, who was born to the virgin Mary in Bethleham, the same Jesus who chose his 12 disciples and ministered in Galilea, who entered Jerusalem and was later arrested in the garden of Gethsemane, who was crucified, dead, and buried before he arose from the dead and appeared to his disciples and later to Paul on the Road to Damascus, the same Jesus who taught his other sheep from a different fold, who ascended into heaven and now sits on the right hand of God the Father. He is the Lamb of God, the Good Shepherd, the Light of the World, Emmanuel, King of Kings, the Prince of Peace, and our Lord and Savior. There is only one Jesus Christ. There is only one Heavenly Father. We worship God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ who atoned and died for our sins.
