Or is this expectation just beyond what any model is currently capable of comprehending?

@charshenton This is VERY cool. Sadly, this is the second closed-source publication this week on Splatting in VR (first was a binary-only release by clarte53 on GitHub). I'm sad to see closed implementations on open-source publications, even if they are for the purpose of research funding.

Gaussian Splatting in VR, all code written by me from scratch on DX12 + OpenVR. 2x2016x2240 res, no clever multi-view stuff yet so just running the whole render pipeline once per eye. Left the frame timer on so you can see I've been truthful about my perf :D

@X_VISION Hey Xan. LKG portrait displays can't be used in landscape and their landscape displays can't be used in portrait. This is due to the way their optics work. Currently Refract only runs on the Portrait. I'd need to get a landscape display and change how I capture to support that.

@leguilloux @julianward @jbmcculloch @SkarredGhost @magicleap @ShaneEngelman Also, segmented dimming could help make text more legible. Without it, on additive light displays text needs to be bright white (or black on a bright background) in order to achieve the contrast necessary to read.

It’s like saying passthrough on the Quest isn’t great for VR because it allows the real world to interfere with the virtual. @leguilloux @julianward @jbmcculloch @SkarredGhost @magicleap @ShaneEngelman In my *personal* opinion, ML2s segmented dimming is an excellent feature. I'm less interested in the ability to do VR on an AR device, but when dimming can be done on a pixel-by-pixel basis, holograms can occlude the physical world. And that's cool.
