BREAKING -- FISA REAUTHORIZATION has passed the House. Vote was 261-111. JOHNSON was able to pass FARM BILL, DHS funding, FISA, budget resolution in one week.

NEWS w/ the team: a detailed look at the timeline for recon 2.0 including -budget vote-a-rama late next week in Senate -NO cmte markups expected -Senate GOP looking at week of May 11 for recon bill on the floor* *could slip if budget slips in House politico.com/newsletters/in…

Speaker Mike Johnson says he will “probably” leave the budget resolution vote open — as a huge group of aggrieved hardliners + refinery state Rs and Midwest Rs pushing E15 meet in his office for a “big family meeting” They are all upset because he promised them different things “We got the rule passed with the discussion in the back that we would delay a vote on the farm bill and E15,” Johnson said. “But then a lot of the E15 proponents are very interested in the Farm Bill progressing, which I think all the most every house republican’s in favor of the Farm Bill. So we modified that idea to move the farm bill and hold only E15” Hardliners are now also upset the Senate is rejecting their FISA + CBDC ban package the House just passed — and now Senate is likely stripping out CBDC ban and debating sending over a 45-day FISA extension

New — WH OMB has called for “immediate passage” of the Senate-passed DHS bill to end historic shutdown. I just asked him if he would listen to OMB. Said he has concerns with “explanatory section” of bill. “We are not defying the WH. I just got off the phone with the president.”

🚨GOP leaders just muscled through the rule for FISA and farm bill — after more than two hours on the floor Leaders are planning to make changes to the E15 bill/farm bill later to address small refinery issues in the E15 bill, per sources Hageman, Gary Palmer, Gabe Evans and a dozen more Rs want the small refinery changes

Initial VRA thoughts — working this through on the fly. Louisiana and South Carolina are the most likely to draw out Dem seats. But both have their primaries very soon and the filing deadlines are long gone. Doubtful there’s enough time for new maps this year. (1/?)

SCOTUS: @hakeemjeffries strikes confident tone in face of Voting Rights decision "“They definitively will not be able to use it in this cycle, and we don't believe that they're going to be able to generate any advantage in future cycles"

I'm not a lawyer and I'm not gonna pretend to understand these VRA rulings or predict what they actually mean will happen
