@AndrewKafoury @PDXjay To elaborate - the city’s economic climate does suck. The residents largely have money, but there aren’t a lot of high end jobs here compared to other cities of similar size / with similar cost of living. But, fans absolutely pay up and show out for blazers games.

@PDXjay That line is just to tap into prejudices of people who live in the suburbs and have an unreasonable fear of Portland. Our has issues but people going to games isn't one of them.

genuinely disturbed by the Blazers relocation talk. I'm not from PDX but I lived there for many years, love it, know what a great basketball town it is, and just how much that team means to the city. Potentially losing them at the hands of *that* guy is a tough thought to stomach

@blazerbanter St. Louis has fallen off really, really hard. Used to be about the same stature of city within the US as Boston or SF are now. Now it’s a little more populous than Portland but much less economically prosperous. Don’t see how 3 major pro teams there would work.

That makes me feel somewhat better but whether a city is a good place to live or have an NBA team didn’t stop Seattle from becoming OKC. Very nasty work seeing someone from the ownership group isn’t actually negotiating in good faith publicly talking about other cities.

Maybe it’s nothing, maybe it’s everything. But one of the minority owners of the Blazers is retweeting news stories about how St. Louis is a good market for the NBA. And in said article, it says that the only way they’d get one is a local billionaire to buy a team and relocate it
