@HenryRosoff @nyknicks @Ticketmaster @TheGarden Unbelievable the fact they would give a “tickets release schedule” and then decide you know what, nah, f it, let’s see how much we really can charge and no one knows what the story is. I’ll tell you this, I guarantee they will release tickets the day off

@HenryRosoff You nailed it with this article! Not even sure if you know or not, when the @nyknicks “released” tickets on @Ticketmaster last week, it was up for maybe 10 mins and then they disappeared….as someone who lives close by to @TheGarden it’s embarrassing!!

Not something for NY to be proud of... seems to be exacerbated by the fact there's been no wide sale to the general public by the Knicks, and as I reported today... there may not be. pix11.com/news/local-new…

History in the making. The greatest difference in two markets in pro sports history. Get in for Game 1 in San Antonio is now at $800. Get in for Game 3 in New York is now $4,300. More than 5x more expensive for same opponents.

@darrenrovell The Knicks haven’t even announced when tickets go “on sale” as they only did for “5 minutes” then the box office was shut down and the @nyknicks needed to “reevaluate” their release schedule……

Thing is New Yorkers buying Game 3 & 4 aren’t just buying the game. They are buying “To Be There.” So although it is the same teams, Game 1 and 2 in San Antonio is an entirely different “product” than Games 3 & 4 in New York.
Brian Sullivan@SullyCNBC

Trash seats for first NYC home game of Knicks v. Spurs are $5,000 and up. Cheaper to fly to lovely San Antonio, get a nice hotel and a swanky dinner and then hit the game (and its still stupid expensive) Who can make that meme graphic with the dude looking over his shoulder at the NBA finals while holding hands with the World Cup?

Let’s take a look at the July 14th show for @BonJovi . Posted 2 days ago they released more tickets after pretending it was sold out and forcing you to buy crazy expensive resale. They were $561.70 for lower level in section 106 row 19 (second picture) Now after two days of no one buying those insane prices, they have already dynamically lowered to $502.70 (first picture) The real scalpers are the promoters using dynamic pricing. Except this is supposed to be the primary ticket sales people trust. Instead they hold back numerous amounts of tickets with zero disclosure of it to drive prices higher. What other industry uses manipulation like this? Pure greed and further reason to wait to buy or not even go at all. I’ve seen managers claim they want to build life long fans, don’t think this is the way to go if that’s the goal. #paystowait

Here is some typical daily corrupt things done by promoters and artists. These @BonJovi shows were “sold out.” What they really do is hold back these tickets to inflate all of the shows prices, then they slowly release new tickets after dynamically raising the price much higher. This is done to manipulate fans who are uninformed and make them pay higher prices. This is all done by the promoters and artists team, this greed can only be blamed on them and one of the root causes of why ticket prices are so damn high.

NYC is no longer a city, it is an algorithm. If you live in, say, Cincinnati, when you go to get ice cream with your friends, you really are just going to get ice cream with your friends. In NYC, this is not possible. You cannot just go to get ice cream, because, against your will, you are very self-consciously “someone who lives in NYC, going to get ice cream with their friends, in NYC.” You are never able to achieve full presence of mind because you are constantly placing yourself inside a chapter in some made up, schizophrenic and highly disorienting book. Put another way, as a New Yorker, you do not live in a city, but a massive, procedurally generated simulation of one. You are nothing more than a vapid unit of flesh and bone trapped since a Baudrillardian infinity mirror, where the references have their own references. You become more of a vague concept than a real person—some strange, soulless mix of ambition and violent/sexual impulses—and in your constant confusion you fail to ever become a true subject. You pay $17 for the ice cream cone. Then, you pull out your list of saved Instagram Reels which tell you where to get reservations for pasta later. When you arrive, you find yourself stuck in yet another long line, with people who look just like you. The longer you wait in lines like these, the harder it becomes to ever recover the soul of the person you were before you moved into your East Village studio.

This is pretty embarrassing and just continually shows the greed by these teams. If prices were reasonable, the @nyknicks game would easily be sold out. But with dynamic pricing and pure greed, it’s still not sold out and they have to send out an email to fans hours before the game to sell the rest. The Knicks to keep face value prices even higher, kept people from reselling their tickets on Ticketmasters website until 24 hours before the game so they could hurt fans.
