🚨 JUST IN: This California sheriff is being praised for showing NO REMORSE about running over an armed suspect who killed one of his officers “We intentionally ran him over...don't shoot at cops." “He GOT what he DESERVED.” 🔥 That’s how you do it.

When MJ did not make his Varsity basketball team, his Mother did NOT: 1) complain to the school 2) call the coach 3) demand a meeting with the AD Deloria Jordan simply told MJ “work harder.” ~ via @JMMontgomeryCo

Notable news in the Wichita high school basketball world. After 9 successful years at Maize South, where he compiled a 153-52 record and 5 state tournament appearances, Ben Hamilton is moving on to take the girls basketball job at Andale.

As an AD, you learn quickly that the loudest voices are not always the right ones. Many are driven by personal agendas, not the mission of the program. Volume does not equal value. Stay anchored to the people and principles that actually move your program forward.

Stop calling them “SPED kids.” Students are students first. Having an IEP doesn’t change that. It doesn’t lower expectations, and it doesn’t mean we stop problem solving at Tier 1 and Tier 2. Strong core instruction still matters every single day. The goal is always growth and independence. That only happens when students are supported across all tiers, not separated by a label. And language matters. They are not “SPED kids.” They are students first, each with unique needs we’re responsible for meeting. That difference matters. It shows up in how we teach, how we support, and how we see them.

I’ll never understand the struggling sophomore or junior that won’t take JV at bats. You should be begging for those AB’s anywhere you can get them.

PARENTS - You can buy your kids a phone; pay for college, a car. You can buy sporting equipment but you can’t buy their success. If they want it, they have to earn it. Success isn’t easy. The “price” comes with a lot of extra work, trials & failure. - via @CoachJonBeck

If you just now discovered your child is failing at the end of the quarter or semester, it is likely not the teacher's failure…it is a failure on your part as a parent.

Midweeks don't define a season, but for Wichita State, those games vs. KU/KSU/OSU/OU have always been good measuring sticks. Lately, the Shockers have been coming up short. Last night's loss to K-State was the 16th straight midweek L to high-major foes. kansas.com/sports/college…

KIRBY SMART ON BEING GREAT "There's one way. The right way. The hard way. There are no shortcuts. When the alarm goes off...if you wanna be a really good player, you're gonna get up & go to class. You've gotta do something somebody else isn't willing to do." ~@TerryCollege

High school softball coaches, umpires & ADs... we’ve got to do better for our girls. After years of coaching in Kansas, I’m tired of watching toxic environments kill the joy and drive girls away from the game. Let them smile, banter, fist bump, and actually have fun. Push them hard, but don’t coach the love of the game out of them. HS Sports should build them up, not burn them out. Please stop the war between HS and the club. "Great players come ready to play with the right approach every day. The wins are a byproduct of the foundation of what your program is about." Wins don’t come first. Discipline does. Accountability does. Consistency does. Winning is just the result of great habits.

I’ll never understand why parents are so fearful of their kids being held accountable. I just cannot see how things have shifted so much. Everyone is always in the wrong if they attempt to hold a young person accountable; especially in athletics. Doesn’t matter who it is; they are wrong. What do you think life is going to do to them?

Most sideline problems come from one place. Parents who forgot it's not their experience. Great ones stay positive, trust the process, and say one thing: "I love watching you play." That's it.
